My friends brought me to Casa Gades for a lunch time meal. The 12.5 Euro special was excellent. There was plenty of food and it was delicious. I recommend the entrecôte. For the traveler on a budget, don't hesitate to try this simple restaurant with good food and friendly service!

Truly aweful. Should have realized from the dirtiness of the place. I won't even bother commenting on the food. There are much nicer places around.

This restaurant is a short walk from the Paseo de Recoletos and my friends and I ended up having lunch here one Saturday as the Café Gijón, where we had intended to meet, charges quite a bit for its weekend fixed-price menu. Casa Gades is a pretty typical 'neighbourhood' style eatery: this is central Madrid but it's a residential part.... More

Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
