We enjoyed a wonderful meal at El Sur de Muertas this summer on our trip to Spain from the USA. The waiter, Peter Chener, was very accommodating for our 2 small children ages 2 and 4. We came to El Sur and had a great...experience in 2019 and decided to go back this summer, but we now had 2 small children with us and 2 strollers. The restaurant is very small, but Peter saw me hesitating outside as to whether or not we would fit, and he kindly came out and invited us in, saying he would find a place for the strollers and the 4 of us. The food is delicious, very fresh. Turns out my 4 y/o loves grilled octopus! The calamari is excellent. We enjoy the rotating menu of this restaurant, makes it a unique experience each time we have visited. While the restaurant did seem to have many Americans and other tourists, it did have a great local feel. Highly recommend!More

My sister got me a voucher for El Sur de Hertas as a birthday present and it was a great call! A small restaurant, but definitely worth a visit! Delicious tapas, including the house recommendations, very reasonably priced and great service! My only regret is...I was too full for dessert, so I'll just have to go back some time!More

We ordered the grilled prawns in garlic oil (REALLY good) and we’re proactively offered bread to soak up the oil :P the wine recommendation was equally delicious, also considering the price :) can definitely recommend this place!

The food was very good and good/kind service! I recommend this tapasbar with a good atmosphere. And the airconditioning was also nice because it was very hot outside 😃

This was the best food we had on our vacation and we went to Paris, Barcelona, and Madrid. Peter and Alex were running the restaurant at the time, exceptional service. All around great experience!

I googled 'best places to eat in Madrid," and this place came up, and for good reason! We came in and sat in the back (we were so thankful for AC) and order the Sangria which was so good and pretty! Peter and Chener were...very helpful and kind and brought me extra wine for my sangria! We got the fried eggplant for an appetizer, which was so tasty! Then we got the mushroom risotto, shrimp in garlic sauce and the cod! All of it was so fresh and filling and came out so fast! We loved it here and would love to come back!More

Get stop, best tapas in a long time. Had to wait at the bar for a table which is normally a good sign. Everyone spoke good English. The food was lovely. Mains before the entrees but we didn't mind. As usually we ordered far too much....They do mocktails also. Great mealMore

This place was the first stop after my boyfriend and I landed Madrid. The food was delicious and really set the bar for the rest of the places here! We had the iberico ham platter, Spanish omelette, prawns in garlic oil and paella for reference....The service here was amazing too! We really felt welcomed by Peter and Nelson. On top of that, Chener made a really bomb Sangria! Highly recommend this place.More

Of our several evening meals, this was our favorite. Friendly helpful servers. Nice selection. Well prepared. Nothing to complain about. Seemed a fair mix of locals, Spanish tourists and people (like us) from outside Spain. And it was only two blocks from our hotel!

A very cool place with very typical spanish food. Good to share dishes with someone and experience the different flavours and traditional food. The prices are great and the food delicious! A special thanks to Rebeca. She was so welcoming that we went again in...the next day!More

We made reservations just to be safe. The tables were packed, service is A-1. The sangria is probably the best I’ve ever had and the presentation is picturesque. The menu is super easy and the portions are plentiful!
