Very, very, very, VERY disappointing that they took the lemon mousse off the menu and now the last straw they took "natillas" off. Bring them back or we won't return!!!!

The expectations are high when you arrive a restaurant where the speciality is roasted lamb, which I really love. However, after my visit at this restaurant I am sure that I will chose another restaurant for the next time, as even the touristic places in the old town are better. The Iberian ham was cut is thick slices, which is... More

To enjoy a lenghty afternoon or evening eating, drinking, talking. Decoration is from the old days. Not a big dining hall, but cosy spaces with a few tables. Very pleasant to be there for hours in good company. Main dishes are meat, as expected in an asador type of restaurant. We had lamb and entrecote. Both very tasty. Good choice... More

Nice classical meal. Had the lamb chops for a change. Very tasty. simple traditional menu and selections. Wine list good but limited. Filled up quick after 2PM at lunch. Service was fine, no issues. Many business people were loud talking at next tables, just tuned them out, the loud guys are always non-Spanish from South America, just uncivilized loud mouths,... More

The food is just...average. The suckling pig is ok...the lamb a bit dry. The location is good. I think there are better Asadores in Madrid

Recommended by a local- we came for dinner. Old school feel inside and very quiet. We ordered the milk fed lamb specialty. It was tasty and tender. We had a half a quarter and with two starter it was more than enough for us. The waiter I think is more used to a quarter for two. Solid place but I... More

Great restaurant in the neighborhood of Salamanca - and there is a place with a lot of good restaurants! Grilled meat (veal, beef, suckling pig and lamb) are the specialties and we tried each one of them. the bread of the house is warm from the oven and the desserts must be sampled!

Classic Castillian fare. The menu is very short - this restaurant's specialty is roast baby lamb and suckling pig. The lamb and the pig are slowly roasted in a wood oven fired by oak. Drink "clarete", the house wine served in a wooden jug- it accompanies the lamb and pig perfectly and is much cheaper than ordering a bottle of... More

The restaurant is lovely, and the wait staff is wonderful (only 1 English speaking - but they worked it out) - and the food is awesome! My husband and I had drinks, grilled vegetables, the best steak I've ever had, and a fabulous dessert - for about 80 euros.

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighborhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
