Dinner was modernized Spanish food, including a squid lasagna made with layers of wontons, croquettes of ham in a cream sauce, grilled turbot. We enjoyed a white, a Portuguese Alentejo. Since the Madrileños keep very late hours--dinner started at 9:30 but the restaurant wasn't humming...More

When you step over the threshold of La Parra, you will be charmed by the décor to the attentive staff in this small Mediterranean restaurant in the Chamberi district. The décor has lots of Mozarabic tiles with subdued lighting and the noise level is muted....More

This restaurant has a great atmosphere, it just has a good vibe about it since you walk through the door. Came in a summer month which means there's usually less going on but it doesn't matter, the food is great as is the decor. A...More

After many years, I have dinned again at La Parra, a Madrid's dinning classic. I have enjoyed as I did many years ago: the food is superb, the service excellent, and the atmosphere as cosy as ever, illuminated at night with candles. It is a...More

This was a recommendation from our hotel, and we were definitely outnumbered by Spanish speakers. This was a good thing. Lovely ham croquettes followed by venison with chanterelles and an apple and currant sauce was very good. My other half had a superb Salmorejo followed...More

From the jamon and fan as starters through the Jake for main and a chocolate mint dessert, every course was delicious. Friendly service, discreet but present, all round recommendation.

This was recommended to us and it didn't let us down. The restaurant is so atmospheric and romantic with comfortable seating and nice lighting. A good range of Spanish classics on the menu and a reasonably priced wine list. The service was excellent even though...More

Multi-story residential buildings decorated with
ornate balconies line the traditional, quiet, and
pretty streets of Chamberí. Humble storefronts and
neighborhood taverns are scattered across the lower
levels down every block, and here and there, there's a
cluster of tables on the sidewalk. It isn't ever
crowded, but people are always out, poking into the
tiny bakeries, hardware stores, and tobacco shops, or
