Visited here 6th Nov 2019 and it seemed perfectly ok to begin with. My partner and I had drinks and a meal. My partner was feeling a little unwell and went home before me. (Not in any way linked to the great food and drink...we had.) There was a champions league game on TV involving Tottenham which I could easily gather is the pub's favourite team. No problem at all as it was a cracking atmosphere. Locals and tourists alike joined in the jubilation of Spurs winning the game. After the match around 10;30 maybe 10;45 the bar started to empty and a little while later by around 11, I was the only customer left in the bar. I was making polite conversation with the barman and I remember he was training up a young bartender, giving her instructions, etc. I asked at around 11;10, if I could order one more beer before going to my guest house. I was told extremely plainly that the pub was closing and the guy proceeded to walk to the door, open it and by his actions make it quite clear that I was to leave the premises. I am 45, well travelled and have never experienced such behaviour. One minute I was asking politely for a drink and the next minute it felt like I was tossed onto the streets. It was done very abruptly without any respect for the custom I had given. All I know he is Hungarian and that does not imply anything other than that he was a very rude person regardless of his nationality.More

I go here now and again for a coffee and dessert, so I can say I like the place. I like the staff and I like the décor. I like that the staff are attentive and want to please. However, today I ordered a plate...of Cheesy Chips, and a drink. I was so disappointed with the Cheesy Chips. I think(!) they had been previously cooked and when I ordered them they put them in an oven or under a grill and heated them up. The result was that they were hard and literally shattered when forked, the extremes of them was browned to almost burnt. And disappointingly there was a distinct lack of cheese (I put more cheese on my mousetrap at home) and it was rock hard. I ate three or four chips and gave up. Admittedly the member of staff removed the plate and did not charge me for it. Strangely enough he never bothered to ask me what was wrong with the dish. Hence me letting them know via the medium of TA. Picture provided.More

A very convenient location right on the Main Street pedestrian street. I ordered the beef tagine which was so authentic and tasty. Thank you to America behind the bar, who helped me select my lunch dish and poured a perfect lager on tap for me!

Googled for a nice place to eat and drink and The Star came out in the result. Decided to try but while the food and drink good, it just didn't feel like a happy place to be. Nice place if only the happy vibe present,...too. Otherwise, good place.More

Finding out that most restaurants in Gibraltar are closed between 15.00 and 18.00 we found ourselves rather hungry looking for a good place to have lunch. We are lucky we found the Star Bar, offering a very exciting menu with a blend of English and...Mediterranean style food. Our family of 4 had the chicken wraps, vegetable wraps, the star burger and the breakfast wraps. Very tasty and plenty of food.More

Had drink during the day, went back early evening for meal, service was friendly, but one starter was forgotten, then when we reminded staff about it, they served it with the main course, mains were not that great, kids meals were average, £125 spent but...not worth it. Sorry star bar not that impressed.More

We stopped here after walking through the streets of Gibraltar. The menu had diverse options and a good kids’ menu. We ordered the North African chicken wrap (best thing we ate), tandoori chicken burger (delicious!), and chips and cheese. Everything was delicious, friendly staff, good...service. Even reasonably priced.More

We stopped in at The Star Bar after a long day of walking around Gibraltar. The waitress was pleasant and helpful. We thought the tapas menu looked wonderful, but unfortunately it was Sunday night and tapas is only offered Wednesday to Saturday. However, the regular...menu did not disappoint. My husband had the fish which got a big thumbs up, and I had the Beef Tagine. Excellent. A very pleasant venue and the folklore that Columbus called in here for a drink before heading off to discover America added to the enjoyment.More
