Visiting the Star Bar in Gibraltar offers a blend of historic charm and modern comfort. It's Gibraltar's oldest bar, providing a unique ambiance with traditional decor. A warm welcome aways you here. Dining inside or on small terrace to front. Their breakfasts are legendary in Gib ! Their poached eggs with avocado and wilted spinach were FAB ! They also have an ever changing selection of tapas which are great for lunch or a snack. Quieter in the evenings.

Superb lunchtime spot in Gibraltar

We have visited The Star Bar numerous times for lunch and they consistently deliver. The bar itself is modern and spotlessly clean. Both the house red and white wines are excellent and the food is delicious and great value for money. I would highly recommend the goat cheese salad, prawn pil pil tagliatelle and any of the wraps. A special mention to Paco who is just charming!

Dependable option for a flawless full English

I don’t really eat them at home anymore, but I’ve always loved a classic full English and felt like a holiday treat. Star Bar did not disappoint, everything you’d expect on your plate, cooked superbly. We’ve experienced some poor service in Gibraltar, but not here, due to the chatty and attentive staff, we felt looked after and welcomed. If you are a breakfast lover like me, don’t miss out on this excellent and historic location.

Extremely long waiting time and bland food

We were a family of six people visiting for lunch, and even though the restaurant was far from full, the wait was more than an hour from we arrived and until food was served. When the food finally came, it wasn’t served at the same time - the tapas would come first and then the rest. However only 3 people ordered tapas. They also managed to forget one of the dishes that we ordered. It never came, but was still added to the bill. The food tasted quite bland - in need of salt, dry burger buns, and soft fries. A final remark, they waiter didn’t smile once and generally wasn’t very ‘welcoming’ in his attitude.o A sad end to an otherwise really nice visit to Gibraltar

Bad experience

A bad experience regarding the Burger and chips meal, with the Burger being pink when served. I didn't realise at first, but when noticed before taking a bite, I called the front of house person (Who I assume was the manager) and just requested for it to be cooked more. He made such a fuss, and returned it to the Kitchen, but it came back out the same as when I returned it. I Found them abrupt, and the chef came out, walked past our table, and totally blanked us, and proceeded to have her break outside

Not up to usual high standard

Been here a few times over several years and alway been good. The service was good as usual but the breakfast was mediocre. Undercooked hash browns falling apart and barely warm, the eggs were swimming in oil and overcooked, the toast was bread, not toasted at all, doubt if the sausages were Cumberland as advertised. It just seemed that my breakfast was prepared in a rush, very disappointed

I chose the Star Bar for a quick drink with friends before going on to a restaurant to celebrate my birthday. We arrived around 6.45pm to find most of the tables were reserved although no one was sat at them. We were told there was no table available for us despite our insistence we only wanted a quick drink before our dinner reservation at 7.30pm. Maybe all the tables were reserved although I find that unlikely, but the barman clearly wasn’t interested in making us feel welcome. As we were leaving we were offered stools at the bar. These are fixed so it would have been impossible to enjoy a conversation with friends. We left and went to bar in Casemates.

Culinary pleasure

We happened upon this charming little bar, the oldest in the Gibraltar area, slightly off the main street. The service fully and expertly takes into account our needs - I have a gluten-free diet. My husband, who has visited England a lot, told the kitchen that the club sandwich he ordered was the best he has ever had from British cuisine. I was very pleased with my goat cheese salad.

ZERO in service, food and atmosphere

Very unpleasant waiter. Unfriendly and he repeated to us 4 times that if we sat down it was to eat. That the tables were not for coffee or drinks. He then continued to be unpleasant and mocking, switching from English to Spanish. The regular food and the children's food, literally the fish and chips, are frozen hake sticks from Mercadona. I will never repeat. The oldest pub in Gibraltar renovated in a “I want to be modern” style without charm, without good food and without friendliness. To avoid!!!!

Nice little bar

This is a lovely bar hidden down one of the many side streets in Gibraltar, a sign at the top of the street pointed us in the direction of it. The bar it self is small and has a small out door dining area, the food certainly wasn't small I had fish and chips and the portion was very big and very tasty. The staff were friendly and helpful and the place was spotless clean.

Very awful service low standard Food was cold they don't pay attention to customers And a very bad hygiene problem kitchen staff put a wheely bin through full of rubbish through the restaurant whilst the customers where eating

Not good for breakfast

The waiter from east Europe was very unfriendly and unmotivated. He was almost rude to us. The breakfast was totally boring and disappointing. We would not go for breakfast again. A huge disappointment. Perhaps it's because people get paid minimum but not the guest's problem.

Best food ever.

I went to this bar with my dad and my sister for brunch and lunch the next day, and as soon as we walked through the door, the staff were very welcoming. When we sat down, one of the waiter was straight to the table and serving us. We ordered and the food came within minutes. Clearly freshly cooked and really tasty. Very good value probably will go back tomorrow.

Great service and good drinks

Came here with a few friends, the place looked good and the drinks where a reasonable price. The best part was the service. Diana put waiter was attentive and kind. She was very welcoming and made us feel like it was our local. Definitely coming back here again.

Nice pub but incredibly limited

In a nice location just off Main Street. Service was efficient & friendly. No Bushey Gibraltan beer in stock. Understandable given it’s small batch. However having only one lager on draught (the mass produced Heineken) and having that out of stock? Inexcusable for a pub!
