Oldest bar in Gibraltar is surprisingly modern. Lovely little terrace to front. Angela served us - she is from South Africa and delightful. Interesting menu includes tapas style dishes but we had lunch booked elsewhere and only called in for drinks. She recommended a rosemary...infused gin which was served with fever tree tonic. Wonderful botanics!More

In a nice location just off Main Street. Service was efficient & friendly. No Bushey Gibraltan beer in stock. Understandable given it’s small batch. However having only one lager on draught (the mass produced Heineken) and having that out of stock? Inexcusable for a pub!

We ask the attendant if we can sit, and she ignored us... so we leave. It seams only a few people i Gibraltar want us to spend money. We were thinking to dinner in Gibraltar but we became to eat in Spain.

Although this quaint little bar has undergone a 360 transformation, it still has the pull of old and a visit to Gibraltar wouldn't be the same without a visit to the oldest bar on the Rock. With the effervescent Paco leading from the front and...a hearty menu, it was well worth the visit.More

Visited here 6th Nov 2019 and it seemed perfectly ok to begin with. My partner and I had drinks and a meal. My partner was feeling a little unwell and went home before me. (Not in any way linked to the great food and drink...we had.) There was a champions league game on TV involving Tottenham which I could easily gather is the pub's favourite team. No problem at all as it was a cracking atmosphere. Locals and tourists alike joined in the jubilation of Spurs winning the game. After the match around 10;30 maybe 10;45 the bar started to empty and a little while later by around 11, I was the only customer left in the bar. I was making polite conversation with the barman and I remember he was training up a young bartender, giving her instructions, etc. I asked at around 11;10, if I could order one more beer before going to my guest house. I was told extremely plainly that the pub was closing and the guy proceeded to walk to the door, open it and by his actions make it quite clear that I was to leave the premises. I am 45, well travelled and have never experienced such behaviour. One minute I was asking politely for a drink and the next minute it felt like I was tossed onto the streets. It was done very abruptly without any respect for the custom I had given. All I know he is Hungarian and that does not imply anything other than that he was a very rude person regardless of his nationality.More

I go here now and again for a coffee and dessert, so I can say I like the place. I like the staff and I like the décor. I like that the staff are attentive and want to please. However, today I ordered a plate...of Cheesy Chips, and a drink. I was so disappointed with the Cheesy Chips. I think(!) they had been previously cooked and when I ordered them they put them in an oven or under a grill and heated them up. The result was that they were hard and literally shattered when forked, the extremes of them was browned to almost burnt. And disappointingly there was a distinct lack of cheese (I put more cheese on my mousetrap at home) and it was rock hard. I ate three or four chips and gave up. Admittedly the member of staff removed the plate and did not charge me for it. Strangely enough he never bothered to ask me what was wrong with the dish. Hence me letting them know via the medium of TA. Picture provided.More
