Promised myself a return visit.

I had to wait a year to treat myself to the best rack of lamb I’ve ever had. It’s cooked in the pizza oven and is delicious,my other half’s pasta dish was so good he had seconds.The staff are great nothing is too much trouble and the prices are very reasonable. Another great thing is it’s just down the road from the Rock hotel another great place. All in all we will certainly go to this great Pizzeria next time we visit Gibraltar.

Best pizzas on Gibraltar!

This is a small restaurant situated in the corner of Red Sands car park overlooking a very busy road; cars, buses and scooters pass by constantly. That said, it has it's own rather special ambience, and the pizzas are AWESOME! We lived in Naples for several years, and never expected to taste pizzas as good again -wrong, those in Mama Mia's are just as good. We visit Gibraltar every year or so, and just keep going to this restaurant. Also they have a good selection of Spanish wine at reasonable prices, and the house wine is drinkable. Staff couldn't be more pleasant (can't say that about everywhere on Gibraltar) and everything from the booking process, to paying the bill is a pleasant experience. Good Covid-19 security too. Highly recommended.

Love their limoncello

Mamma Mia is not far from Main Street and also very close to the cable cars. It’s great location as you can’t miss it. I booked in advance as I thought it would be very busy. I was surprised how quiet it was. We enjoyed Gambas Pil Pil to start and for mains we had. For mains my daughters had the tuna steak and carbonara which were excellent. However my seafood salad was most disappointing, not enough fish and seafood way too much salad and not enough seasoning. Personally I have had better meals there in the path. I noticed there was a pizza oven. I think that is must try next time as it smelt so good. The girls shared a delicious tiramisu dessert followed by 2 limoncello’s each on the house. The staff were pleasant. All in all not a bad evening.

Not a great first impression

Not a great first impression of Gibraltar - we stopped here for lunch and asked if they served children’s meals - they said they did so we ordered what we thought was a children’s meal. When the bill came we noted we’d been charged the full adult price for a child’s meal. When we pointed this out, rather than accepting the error, the owner came out and started a rather embarrassing argument saying we should have known the difference between a full meal and a kids meal and that particular meal didn’t come in a kids size, even though we clearly asked twice for a kids meal! We ended up paying full price for what was in truth a pretty mediocre meal.

Four of us on this visit to the restaurant, and three of us couldn’t eat the meal. We ordered carbonara which tastes like a tin of mushroom soup 🤢the lasagne was not nice either.The staff who served us wasn’t very friendly

We went for my sons birthday and I'm afraid we won't be going again. Here's why: Two members of staff were sat at a table eating their dinner when we arrived and because we were early for our table booking, I was made to feel bad. It was almost as if I had cut short her meal break and inconvenienced them. They got the wine order wrong. The meatballs were tasteless and the sauce was bland, the brushetta was greasy/v oily. It would have been nice if the tomato was diced instead of just halved and wobbling around on top of the brushetta. There was only one other paying table of customers in the restaurant when we were there, the other table was the waiting staff having their dinner one table away from us! My seat was pushed right up against one of the main entrances and the sliding door scraped my arm everytime someone entered the restaurant by this door. Overall, the service wasn't great and neither was the food. So unfortunately I wouldn't recommend it.

Me and my family came for a nice dinner, but instead of it I was given a proper English lecture. I dared to order a pizza quattro formaggi with - my bad - hot pepperoni. I was wrong, I admit. I meant hot pepper, not the american style sausage that must have been obvious for the waitress from the context, since I mentioned that I am vegetarian… Of course the pizza was served with the sausages. When I complained I was given a lesson about the proper usage of the word pepperoni. They made it obvious that solely my poor English caused this problem and they have no reponsibility for serving meat for a vegetarian. They were also pushing me to accept my loss and get my pizza with sausage packed for take away and order something else. It was emphazized not to ovethink the situation because there were other people waiting for tables and our hesitation were holding them up. I was hungry and since my children already started to eat I ordered something else, peacefully tolerateing the nagging of the middle aged ill-mannered waitress. It was our second and last time in this restaurant.

I recommend mama mia for their service and food quality. I ordered steak and pineapple juice. After your long trip at The Rock you better eat at mama mia I assure you you'll enjoy every bite to your food.

Amazing find. Dont judge it by its cover

Honest friendly People here. The food was amazing decadent and moreish. Fresh and tasty with amazong flavours. Not garlic infused like some italians what impressed me most was we overpaid by mistake as they had added a meal to our bill by mistake. The waiter came to us and apologized and showed us they had overcharged. I would highly recommend this place for anyone who loves a proper italian!!

Friendly with great food

My daughter is incredibly fussy when it comes to food, but this restaurants offers a good range for meat eaters and vegetarian. The pizzas are cooked fresh and in a fire pizza oven and they don't scrimp on the toppings. Service is warm and friendly. Relaxed atmosphere and food tastes excellent too. Second night in a row and food just as good. Thank you.

Avoid the Steak!!

Family/Birthday meal. 3 of our party ordered Steaks, which we have had in the past. Usually a little fatty but nice! Well, we won’t be going back as what is advertised on your menu is NOT a Sirloin steak. It was more like a frying steak and my flip flop had more meat to it. In hindsight we should of sent them back as they are not worth £25. However, the staff were very apologetic and said they would notify the owner about the constant barrage they get about the steaks.

A real disappointment

I was really excited to try the chicken pizzaiola, which is one of my favorite dishes and I had dinner here with two friends. The friends both received their salmon raw and my chicken was terrible. We were offered free dessert when we complained but we were not interested in any more dishes after this.

We were treated very well

We were treated to a lovely meal here tonight by friends. Great Italian friendly staff who were laughing and enjoying working together in the kitchen. The waiting staff were also pleasant. We diners all ate something different risotto, chicken pizziaola, chicken piccante and lasagne and they all looked superb. We ate everything up. Two of us finished by sharing a tiramisu which was excellent. We’ll definitely come back, given half a chance.

Didn't feel welcome

The restaurant being located at the very bottom of the cable car, one could fear the worst tourist trap. Well it was not the case, the food turned out to be quite good, for a decent price. This said, not a single greeting, thank you, let alone a smile, from the staff. And the service took aaaages (even to pay the check) ... Mamma mia let me go ... away !

Unprofessional staff

We arrived at the restaurant and waited to be noticed in order to be seated. Three members of the staff were polishing cutlery and on purposely ignoring us. We heard them making comments about how they didn’t wanted to host us. We patiently waited for at least three minutes until the employees couldn’t pretend any longer. We requested a table for two and we were shocked when the waitress replied; “To eat or for what!” In a very rude manner. We were finally seated and ignored once again. The restaurant wasn’t busy and the three of them continued polishing cutlery while gossiping quite loud. Unfortunately, we ended up leaving the restaurant as it was clear to us that we weren’t welcomed. It seemed to me that the staff expected to get their wages without working to generate this ones. They also assumed our nationality and didn’t knew that one of us could understand them perfectly. Very rude and unprofessional. Hopefully the management will appreciate the feedback and take action to prevent similar situations. I’ll be happy to give it another go as we really liked the look of the menu.
