Visited this cafe/restaurant with our 3 year old grandson for fish/chips. They didn’t have a child’s menu so we ordered the adult portion. We didn’t want much so asked for 2 rolls (very small) and 3 soft drinks (in a can). We were absolutely stunned by the bill which was excessive in terms of cost (rolls and drinks)… I challenged the cost but to be frank they weren’t interested. We won’t be back and I can say categorically we won’t be recommending to family/friends…my advice-stay clear.

Fish and chips advertised - it was fish and French fries!
Not even chips…
And not many of them, at that.
The fish was nice.
Really expensive at £16 each and a small bottle of water was £3.50.
Plus a charge for table service of £2.50 - felt really ripped off compared to other places.
We ordered inside and paid inside - so hardly full table service!
Go somewhere else!

Right the Fish was actually ok, the batter was fine, the chips were a bit naff. The size of the fish was matched by the price. £35.00 for 2x fish and chips, absolutley ridiculous price!!

Fell for the "great British fish and chips" line, and convenient location. Food was mediocre at best, my colleague was served a glass of freezing red wine, and the prices were at least 50% higher than at a much better-looking chip shop we subsequently found in Casemate Square. Waitress was pleasant enough initially, but was more guarded after our meal - notably, she didn't ask "Was everything ok with your meal?", as if she was aware she'd have got the answer with both barrels! Avoid Bistro 292.

The service was pretty mundane and the interior resembled a hosptial canteen despite having many Union Jack flags visible on the exterior. The food was of an exceptionally bad quality and the chips served are the not the famous thick cut famous British chips but rather supermarket bought deep fried French fries the type that you would get served at a burger bar. The mushy peas are completely depressing and tasted old. The quality and quantity of food served for the prices charged are an insult and it's a tourist trap. Their establishment is an insult to British Cuisine and culture.

First time at Gibralter and after wandering looking for somewhere for lunch came to Bistro 292 and there was an available table. It advertises itself as serving British Fish and Chips 🤦♀️. It was a bit on the pricey side so myself and partner decided on toasted sandwich each, portion of chips to share and we had 2 bottles of water. I ordered a cheese and ham sandwich and thought a real portion of British chips would make lunch a bit better, how wrong was I, the chips were awful and were obviously frozen chips. Total cost of what we had was £26. Such a shame to remember Gibralter where I had the worst sandwich and chips ever, must pay more attention and google venue on Trip Advisor next time.

Having been in Spain for 3 months we were looking forward to some English style fish and chips on a visit to Gibraltar , please don’t eat here . The fish is frozen and very flabby and unpleasant to eat , the chips of which you get 12 are also frozen chips and the peas are NOT mushy they are garden peas . The whole meal tasted poor quality and cost £13 which is very extortion , and the drinks are extremely expensive .

This must be the worst place to eat in Gib. The fish was obvioisly from the freezer, the batter was goo, and as for the drinks - GBP6.50 FOR A CHEAP GLASS OF WINE, I could have bought 3 bottles for that! Please don´t waste your money visiting this establishment. GBP59 paid for 3 of us. Never ever again. the place should be closed down.

Terrible. Very expensive 14.50 for small piece of fish ,frozen chips , the peas weren't mushy peas they were mashed up garden peas and the portion size was very small . Never ever known a fish and chip shop serve frozen chips . The bought in , warmed up meat pie was awful for 13.50 ,disgraceful
That was bad enough but 3.50 for a can of pepsi is a scandal . Not to mention the £2 table service charge .
British fish and chips I don't think so
Terrible place

We were excited to have fish and chips and when we saw the price £17.90 we assumed this was the norm in Gibraltar having never been before. Not particularly happy but not wanting to spoil the vibe of our first time in Gibraltar we went ahead and ordered. The fish was nice, the portion was disgraceful. There were literally a few scattered ‘frozen chips’ on the plate. This place claims to be best British fish and chips. That’s a total joke. You don’t serve piddly portions of ‘frozen’ fries and claim that they are cooking British fish and chips, then on top of that charge an extortionate amount and service charge. Afterwards as we explored further, we then found multiple other venues serving fantastic portions and none that we saw were more than £10.95 for large fish and chips and they looked like they were cooked genuinely as they would be in England. I would NEVER recommend going here. Save your money and go to a quality place - there are plenty of them in Gibraltar. Just wish we’d walked past this one. I noticed the portions of other foods were as measles too. This was a total rip off!!!!

Terrible tourist spot. Tasteless food with the skin still on the fish inside the batter; asked for a bitter and got a San Miguel; very expensive. Will be remembered as the worst food place in a year of travelling.

We were in a business meeting and could not find a table at Jury’s so went here
The food is disgusting.
Fish was frozen and tasteless. Chips were low quality fries not chips
Half a chicken was over cooked dry and inedible
Chicken Kiev was frozen packet from a cheap supermarket.
On top of this the prices are ridiculous for the quality you get.
Please avoid

Awful food. Ordered a caesar salad- lettuce mushy, chicken very cheap and breaded, tasted like cardboard, too much sauce and parmesan was just regular cheese. Very small portion. Add a can of pepsi and total was £16… never again!

This place was busy so we sat here thinking it would be good food.
We had to wait a very long time to get served, and we should have taken the hint from the table next to us who said that they were waiting over an hour, but we still ordered. The food was so terrible. Its basic, we had fish and chips, tuna sandwiches and a burger. All tasted so bad and the prices are an absolute joke.
The inside of the restaurant was dirty and the toilets were awful and not clean and i put the staff out asking for some toilet roll. Don't tip because there was a service charge added, even the beer was awful, how can you get it so wrong!
Good luck if you do decide to eat here.

Looking for a lunchtime drink. Sat at a table and when it became apparent we only wanted a beer the looks we got were not very nice. Then we were charged £7.20 for two halves of draught San Miguel which we know that in other places they were half that. Wouldn’t recommend this place at all if you just want a drink.
