It's a very basic bar which may - or in my case may not - have some seafood available, Senor is a nice chap with a very regular local clientele for his cheap local blanco. It's a tiny place with limited choice. I like local, basic and authentic and I lasted ten minutes. You're either a local, or it's a... More

I stopped in for a drink. it seemed like many locals were popping in. I had the wine. He poured it from a barrel! How cool is that? the place is old in style but I really like that. if I lived here I'd be a regular for sure. The wine was 50 cent for the cup. amazing.

We just came back from this informal bar. It didn't live up to our expectations, specially after reading positive reviews. It was packed when we arrived and had to wait 30 minutes to sit in a tiny table. Berberechos al vapor were great as well as the pulpo. Camarones really small and overpriced (20€). Really busy and uncomfortable. All for... More

We are Spanish we has come to this restaurant because it is famous in Santiago. The place is very traditional and looks old but very nice. The only problem is that after quite a while looking the barman serving everybody except us, although we were clearly before them in the line. We left with stupid face and never to return.... More

We had a wonderful lunch here. Ate octopus and drank the house wine which was recommended to us. Both the octopus and the wine were very good!!! Next time when I'll be in Santiago de Compostela, I will surely eat there again :)

I don't understand why this place is getting good reviews ... unless I was just unlucky ? Ok so I got the octopus .. it really was one of the worst I've ever had .. It was no tasty at all, small and with too much pepper and salt. I'm sure rubber would be easier to chew ..

A real taste of the traditional local way to drink wine and eat tapas with friends! No sitting down, pass the dishes around! The wine is served in stone jugs as is the drink cups! Such a wonderful memory of Santiago de Compostela !

A really local place in a tourist laden town. Very bare decor, we sat on stools on the rear. The food was good. The service was authentic, well prepared and tasty. The service was prompt. Very good value.

Super busy all the time but worth the wait for dinner. Locals and tourists alike pack in waiting for a table. Great pulpo and house vino.

The meal I ate at O Gato Negro was one of my favorites of the three weeks I spent in Spain. Yes, it can be a bit crowded, but the meal was absolutely worth the wait. The crowd seemed to consist of mostly locals, which is always a good sign! We had padron peppers, cheese, octopus and tarta de Santiago... More
