It is also hard to find a nice restaurant with traditional food and quality products in the most turistic areas, but this restauran is just on the hot spot and is one of the bests in the city for local traditional food in a cossy and elegant atmosphere.

Although the place looks quite touristic, the food was very good. The Mejillones as starter and the Rodaballo (fish) as the main course were excellent. Please also check the wine list very carefully. There are some hidden gems (price / quality). Staff is very friendly, professional and fast. The only thing which was disappointing was the cafe,,,

While visiting some friends who live in La Coruna, we went to a festival in the plaza where the mayor's office is located. Our friends suggested Penela as was it everything they mentioned. The staff was excellent. The restaurant was spotless and the food outstanding. There were 8 in our party and no one had a single negative thing to... More

We were hosted here by some Spanish friends who live locally and really enjoyed ourselves. The lunch was fairly traditional - tortilla, empanadas (Galician style), croquetas and pulpo to start. Then the majority tucked into the carne asada which seemed to meet with everyone's approve while I and my daughter had some excellent sole. All washed down with some lovely... More

If you are in La Coruña you need to eat at Penela! It has the best tortilla española, carne asada and pulpo in the city. It is a bit on the expensive side but totally worth it!

The roast veal melts in your mouth! It's served with delicious gallaecian potatoes. Try for dessert a "filloa" which looks like a crepe... But it's not :)

My cousin leaves in the area and this place is a favorite of hers. I let her select the tapas dishes and the wine - everything was delicious! It's near the main square and was packed. Staff was very friendly.

The staff were pleasant, but not as friendly as at other restaurants in the area. The food was ok, but nothing spectacular. However, some of the dishes being served did look very good. I ordered the lamb cutlets, which were ok, but I've had better. The Tuna salad was very nice though. I wouldn't write this restaurant off, but maybe... More

I've eaten here almost every time I've visited La Coruña. La Penela is famous for its roasted veal and rightfully so! It is roasted to perfection in a savory sauce and served with equally delicious potatos. I had some Ribeiro de Duero to compliment the veal After lunch, a cup of café con leche was a pleasant ending to a... More
