We were in Girona for a wedding and needed a restaurant for our group and Casa Marietta did not disappoint. Service was efficient and the portions were big.

This place was recommended to us by El Claustre Galleria d'Art. What an enjoyable experience! We sat outside and enjoyed sharing the cannelloni entre followed by flavoursome meat dishes, the duck was my favourite and the sauces were all divine. Shared the Catalan cream (similar...More

Service was good. Food traditional. Don't let them put extra, unordered dishes on your table, as they sneakily charge you for these. We thought they were just complimentary nibbles but found them added to the larger than expected bill; no-one told us they were extra...More

Really enjoyed our lunch just on the main square in Girona. Place was recommended by our hotel ( another excellent value- hotel Ultonia) and they were right. The only issue was the wait. You have to either have a reservation or wait. Very popular place....More

My husband ordered the hake with fish sauce and his dish was incredible. I ordered the grilled hake and mine was mushy and inedible. Cannot explain how two dishes like this can come out of the same kitchen. The accompanying vegetables were also terrible -...More

This restaurant is medium in most respects, medium atmosphere, medium food and medium service. In my opinion, not as good as the rating indicates, but their pricing is acceptable.

Food tasted good, but dishes were poor in quantity and service quite slow and not much flexible in changes on dishes. Would not repeat.

Description
Casa Marieta was founded in 1892, at the same time as the first stage of the modernist movement (the end of the 19th century) and the opening of the old narrow gauge train line between Girona and St. Feliu de Guixols. Ever since, Casa Marieta has offered its customers home cooking based on tradition and a familiar welcome. The Catalan sense of tradition is evident in all the dishes currently on the menu: chicken with crayfish, roast lamb, duck with pears, sepia with peas... All home-made. Restaurant Casa Marieta is located on the emblematic Placa Independencia, in the beautiful city centre of Girona. The cathedral, which has the widest Gothic nave in the world, can be seen from the Square. Crossing the stone bridge over the River Onyar, you enter the heart of the old city which has a historic relationship with the Jewish community: the Jewish Call and Torre Gironella.
