When you think in Spain and its food, you probably think in tapas and Paella, but Barcelona is not exactly the best place for Paella, So I asked two local friends and they gave me 3 places (see my other reviews): Carballeira, Can Majo and Caelis. Carballeira's is very close to Barceloneta area, and it's Paella is very good, not... More

Becoming low Q... Time to react or it will be too late. Food quality going down, by far not compensated by the still friendly service.

This is a place popular with locals, much less touristy. White jacket clad professional waiters make you feel welcomed and take you through the menu offerings. The mussels appetizer was outstanding. Paella with Mariscos was well prepared, tasty and filling. We shared several sweet desserts and a wonderful bottle of local wine. Make reservations and take a taxi, it's on... More

Great seafood restaurant.....super fresh with all the fish and seafood displayed right in front of you. We had the seafood platter for two.....consisting of shrimp, prawns, langoustine, razor clams, mussels, sole, hake, and monk fish. Very nice dining experience. Quite reasonable.

A friend of mine recommended the restaurant as her uncle lives in the city and my husband wanted to eat a good paella. We had a late lunch around 6pm and the waiter carefully explained to us the options and we decided to start with an "pulpo a gallega" and then the seafood paella. The wine was also great and... I have been on and off dinning in this restaurant for the last 20 years. My last visit (a week ago) was to celebrate our wedding anniversary and decided to go for Galician speciality restaurant (a safe bet when you put food ahead of fashion) were quality is out of question. We enjoyed the dinner as much as ever. The... More

Service at first place, I like that attitude everywhere, especially when they do not distinguish tourists and loyal local diners. All the meals were exceptionally fresh and cooked in a simple Mediterranean way, without unnecessary extras. The restaurant was full for lunch on Saturday, it seems the reservation was definitely needed. The restaurant is normal expensive, the check for 2... More

Staying in Barceloneta

Neighborhood Profile
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
