I have been on and off dinning in this restaurant for the last 20 years. My last visit (a week ago) was to celebrate our wedding anniversary and decided to go for Galician speciality restaurant (a safe bet when you put food ahead of fashion) were quality is out of question. We enjoyed the dinner as much as ever. The... More

Appetizers were ok but main course Lobster and Steak not worthwhile. White wine was fine, Red wine not.

Service at first place, I like that attitude everywhere, especially when they do not distinguish tourists and loyal local diners. All the meals were exceptionally fresh and cooked in a simple Mediterranean way, without unnecessary extras. The restaurant was full for lunch on Saturday, it seems the reservation was definitely needed. The restaurant is normal expensive, the check for 2... More

We have been coming here for years and always thoroughly enjoyed the food! Galician classics like Pulpo a la Gallega and Tortilla de Betanzos are mouthwatering starters. Decoration is traditional Spanish seafood restaurant and the waiters are generally friendly. However, the last couple of times we have had the feeling of being paying too much - ordering fresh fish is... More

Recommended by the hotel staff and definitely didn't disappoint, went for the grilled platter and everything was delicious and fresh. 44 euros for the platter that was sufficient for two. Location was perfect too, not far from a bus stop that brings you back to la Rambla.

What a wonderful experience! A true classic with attentive service, great recommendations, and a truly caring staff. Every bite is delicious - we sampled from the specials and main menu, and each item was top notch. Really a special place - sort of a flashback to days gone by, but not stodgy. If you love seafood, a classic decor &... More

This restaurant used to be for years a must for my family but eventually it went through a major quality slope. A few years later I have givent it a try and the experience has been surprisingly positive. The renovation has kept the spirit of the restaurant yet it has freshened it up. The kitchen is an open space where... More

Was there with ny wife and sons of 13 and 21. Two of us had the seafood platter and enjoyed the good mix and plenty of food. Monkfish a la marinera and paella marinera were also excellent, together with an Albariño vine from Galicia. Our two sons topped the dinner with deserts from their tempting choices.

Staying in Barceloneta

Neighborhood Profile
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
