This restaurant appeared to be fairly authentic and local. We had paella which was very tasty. It was a bit pricier expected but we didn't really mind as we had a lovely evening and the staff were friendly and engaging.

We met Ramon and Caesar at a bar and they invited us to come taste their restaurant the next day. We met them there and they gave us amazing food (paella and mucho tapas) cava, and espressos for a great price. They are super nice people and we will definitely recommend their place to everyone

We visited this restaurant in August and when we came back we rented an apartment next door, which was great for us. Excellent lunch time set menu (E9.50) 3 courses, wine, beer, soft drink, bread, olives and sometimes extra tapa. The menu changes every day, with steak, fish, shell fish and paella regularly featured. The owner, Cesaro is wonderful and... More

I visited Oliveta in April 2016, after a difficult search for a good tapas bar in Barcelona (yeah, I know!). It was on the recommendation of a Spanish man we stopped in the street. We wanted somewhere unpretentious, used by actual locals and obviously with good food. Well, we hit the jackpot. The owners, a couple called Cesar and Edson... More

Cesare was so lovely and welcoming and happy to show me through his wide range of tapas and menu options. The gambas and boquerones en vinagre were delicious, as was the generous serving of Jamon Iberico, carved in front of me at the bar. Great value and a really local feel. Many thanks to Edson who runs a small tour... More

Oliveta has very good local food at very reasonable prices. The service was good as well. Simple place but all food home made and fresh. We have been there twice. The Calamari frito is made to order and great and only 3.5E

Staying in Montjuic

Neighborhood Profile
Beyond the four columns standing guard at the Plaça Espanya, beyond even the extravagant and colorful fountains guiding your way up the boulevard, stands the impressive and towering structure of the Palau Nacional, the national museum. At this very spot in front of the cascades of the central fountain, Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe gave the performance of their lifetimes to welcome the 1992 Olympic Games to this magnificent city. And true to its anticipation, the games transformed the city, reimagining the mountain of Montjuic with the development of an arena, stadium, and many other sporting facilities that are open to visitors year-round. Surrounding the adjacent side of the plaza are well-established hotels catering to business guests and a shopping mall transformed out of a historic bullfighting arena.
