We know about a dozen different places to eat in Barcelona and this is where we had our bes meal, a dish of rodaballo, a flat fish that look like a turbot with a very delicate taste. Prior to the main meal, we shared different kinds of tapas that were very good. The wine was also very good. I was... More

For our near to last evening in Barcelona, we stumbled upon the Gran Cafe after being unable to get into our first three choices. It was a lucky choice because we had a fine meal-good service, fine food and a wonderful ambiance in this restaurant built in 1920. We had sparkling wine, starters, bottle of rose wine, main course, shared... More

Service, food and wines were very good. I found the place to be a bit narrow probably because it is always full due to popularity.

We were up late and most of the tapas-paellas places were closed or closing, so we returned for the 2nd night in a row to El Gran Cafe. It's a nice place with attentive waiters and good food. Service is fairly prompt, which is nice for those unused to the leisurely pace of many Spanish restaurants. Our meal began with... More

Ate there on last night,22/04.13, of a 5 day trip .Decor, ambiance, decoration, furnishings superb. Welcomed Staff well groomed, quietly efficient and polite. Menu choice wide to suit all tastes. Service very quick...would have liked a break between courses. Value for money excellent. piano playing discreetly which added to a thoroughly great experience.

Very nice ambience. Quality of food is reasonable. Service is dramatically bad. Every waiter is stressed and doesn't take time for you. Fits with a fastfood restaurant - not in a restaurant full of atmosphere like this. A pity.

I just found it while walking through Barri Gòtic. All of it it's Catalan food, and the atmosphere was really good, decorated with Art Deco. It is not one of the cheapest restaurants nearby but it was cheaper than other touristic places. We found that there were a lot of local people and it's a really good sing. The food... More

Wow! You walk into history! Great feeling a stylish large Art Deco restaurant, thoroughly enjoyed the food and the wine was excellent too. The only downside was the time of being served since we sat down far too long without even being asked if we wanted a drink but they did have a large table turn up just before us... More
