Our first eating stop Saturday morning in Barceloneta was for the pre-lunch snack, when locals meet and drink with friends, but not spoil lunch later. We joined the end of a large table of guests happily tucking into their food in this riotous madhouse of noise, bustle and fun We started with the customary bread with tomato and oil, then... More

Great hole in wall in Barcelonetta. Don't let queue or appearance put you off. Had fantastic sardines. Also the potato Bombas with hot sauce were fantastic and local boutique beer.

Great simple small dishes, friendly staff. Informal. Don't expect any formality or confort, this is an old fisherman's tavern.

We enjoyed great Tapas and wine in this small friendly bar. The staff were very helpful in translating the menu for us. Not to be missed.

We saved this restaurant until our last dinner and boy I wish we had more time to enjoy. The service was fantastic and the food was impeccable. If you like authentic Spanish seafood this is the place for you

The best meal we had in Barca. Small venue with very helpful and friendly staff. All the food was so delicious, menu is not in English so relied on staff recommendations. Anyone who loves seafood this a must must!

Suuuccchhhh GOOD food here. Lovely little authentic Spanish tapas, so many great dishes .. We had the potatoe fritas with garlic sauce, mussels, chorizo and so many other great plates. The squid was great, as was the calamari. Best advice is to let the staff pick for you, that's what we did and we had such a great experience.

If you enjoy fresh, authentic seafood you won't regret coming to La Cova Fumada. As other's have mentioned there is no name on the outside, the restaurant looks dark and chaotic and it is easy for many people to be put off by this but please DON'T BE! All the staff were REALLY friendly. The only menu is a single... More

The place is nice. Simple, local and friendly. I wasn't blown away by the food. It was fine but not great. We had the bomba (fried potato balls with aioli) which were ok but not rave material like the reviews. The chorizo was tasty. The calamari was a bit overcooked and average. The mussels with aioli were small but tasty.... More

Staying in Barceloneta

Neighborhood Profile
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
