This is just as I'd expect to eat my grandma's. Generous, well-cooked and... great, everything washed down with the local white. We came back twice during our stay, for the great food and the atmosphere: chatted around with people from other tables, noisy in the right kind of way, as always when people feel at home. Let's not forget one... More

Came here for lunch thinking this was a good find in La Barceloneta, but it seems just like a dingy hole in the wall. Food was average at best, but cheap. Service was horrendous: kept us waiting to order, wouldn't explain sizes of the plates, wouldn't come back so I could order more drinks after I politely signaled to him.... More

The food was very average, nothing special compared to other places in Barceloneta. The service was awful, they are always on a rush and will not listen to any request such as another lemon or salt. Overall i was very disappointed with this place, having waited for almost 40 minutes to be seated.

This restaurant is just off the main walk to Barceloneta beach and if you weren't looking for it - you would definitely walk right past it ! Don't let the exterior put you off it isn't fancy, but it's great authentic food at great value. We chose quite a few plates, grilled calamari was especially wonderful and so were the... More

Lovely little family run restaurant. All tables full when we arrived so had to wait 10-15 minutes, but they offered us a beer /wine to drink outside whilst we waited. Clearly very popular with the locals, the place had a great atmosphere and full of bustling conversation. Staff very polite and helpful. Very quick service which offset the wait to... More

Setting was fantastic and thought we were going to be in for a real treat. Food was very average and service was poor. Disappointed that we walked past so many beautiful places on the way. Bill was not over the top, but it shouldn't have been for what was served.

We had a great experience visiting this place. The queue was not so big so we spent only 15 minutes waiting to get in. The place looks old but it doesnt matter when you get good service and food. The food was delicious. We had home made wine and Sangria which were good as well. We will come back. P.S.... More

My favorite restaurant in Barcelona, we were taken by a bike-taxi driver we befriended and returned at least 3 times that week.

Had a great night here recently. There was a small que outside when we arrived at 755pm. By 8 when it opened it was jam packed. We had salad, fresh mackerel, sardines, anchovies, aubergines, red mullett , chips and 2 bottles of wine for less then 40 euros. No frills here but a good experience and lots of fresh fish.... More

Busy place but worth the wait. Fish was fresh & yummy. Not much english spoken by staff but they did have an english menu. A lot of pointing & asking locals. Was a fun stop if you are hungry but not looking to dine.

Staying in Barceloneta

Neighborhood Profile
Barceloneta
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
