Had two very good meals at Bar Lobo during our 5 night stay in Barcelona. Food quality was very good. Location was great as it was close to La Rambla but not on the actual street so you get away from all the noise crowds and hawkers. Street performers usually rotate through the plaza next to the patio and provide... More

I guess it depends what you order but our experience is as follows. Tempura asparagus, eggplant in honey and fried mushrooms all so heavy in salt that any natural flavour was killed. Deep fried garlic prawns sounded like a winner but the reality was 6 small prawns with little taste for 15 euros - a complete rip off.

The tapas are great and the beer is cheap. Waiters are wonderful with lots of spirit. Just off the Ramblas and close to major hotels. The Tandoorie chicken is great, the hummus not so fab,Calamari is good and the potatoes bravo are very tasty. The best is their olive oil and balsamic vinegar with the bread that they give you.

We fell into this place after my Scottish husband got a Spanish haircut in a Chinese barbers (as you do in Barcelona!!!) and loved it. Great service - with a singing waiter - and the tapas were incredible. Want to stay longer in Barcelona so we can visit again.

I had been recommended Bar Lobo by a chef i work with. It was our first night in Barcelona and we were hungry and wanted something quality (not monstrous portions drenched in grease - which seems to be standard issue) but not fancy. When we arrived and the menu looked similar to all the other menus we'd just passed my... More

We were staying nearby and this was recommended for lunch; give. It's location right off Las Ramblas, I wasn't surprised by the prices or throngs of tourists; that said, it's a cute place with good food - the ceviche and grilled octopus were superb! When in Barcelona, you can't go wrong with seafood (here or elsewhere).

Enjoyed the ambience (sitting outside watching street performers) service was fine despite some other reviews saying otherwise. Especially enjoyed the fried aubergines and mushrooms. Fresh juice for kids was nice too. Sausage platter was a bit of a waste. I was a little annoyed they charged me €4 for bread and service. All that I could be fine with but... More

Manager shouted at us for sitting at a table we had just been shown to by a waiter. Was absolutely bizarre as we had just spoken to the manager. Ended up leaving after the appallingly bad service.

Staying in El Raval

Neighborhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
