We were recommended La Bombeta by the Spanish lady on reception at our accommodation and we were not disappointed. Their speciality is 'bombas' - two crispy balls containing mashed potato and little pieces of meat served with a spicy sauce. The variety of food is...More

I always go back to La Bombeta when in Barcelona and never got out without a smile on my face. You should know though, this is NO fancy place, forget about it if you feel like having a "dining experience" or show off your best...More

A great meal in a local tavern, this isn't a fancy restaurant but that shouldn't put you off as the food and atmosphere were great. It helps to speak a little spanish but you can always point at the food/dishes displayed at the bar and...More

It was on my Barcelona "must go" list. We ordered Bombetas, Calamari Romana and baby Octopus. Sangria for adults and ice tea for kids. Octopus was a little bit chewy, but nothing dramatical. Calamari & bombetas were great. Baby squids, chorizos, gambas, clam soup,... that...More

Some of the best food we had in Barcelona. Keep in mind they do NOT speak english or carry an english menu, but a lot of the food can be recognized in Catalan / Spanish. Gotta try the Bombetas and calamari...delicious!

It's always a good sign when local people, and not just tourists, queue up outside an unpretentious tapas bar. Some tourists might indeed be put off by the sign saying that the staff don't speak English. In fact they do speak a little and will...More

I went this August 2012 to la Bombeta and I was very impressed with the freshness of the food, good portions for a tapa and at a reasonable price. The only downside is that we had to queue for a while and it was so...More

Hours waiting during years to eat at this place, so just one tip: if you want to taste their food try to go between meals! Or at least before 9 pm.

Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area
can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging
over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each
other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing
games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away,
Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line
the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed
sand structures making this the most visited beach in
