If you are looking for a place to dine out in Bardcelona give the La Flauta a try. This is my favorite restaurant in Barcelona. They serve a wide range of tapas, fish and meat dishes at very reasonable prices. My choice of dish is the Beef sirlion which I have on most visits.I have being coming to this restaurant for a number of years and always find the food and service top quality. Also the staff are very friendly and welcoming.

My friends recommended La Flauta to me before I set off for my trip, and my goodness it did not disappoint. We were in Barcelona for 5 nights and ate dinner here on 2 of those nights! First time we came as a group of 6 walk in, no issues getting a table and the service and the good was incredible (despite our table being a little difficult). Second time we visited it was just the 2 of us, food was up to the same standard but service really peaked. Our waiter didn't speak much English but still communicated with us perfectly, despite our terrible Catalan. Both the food and the drinks are very reasonably priced and the desserts were out of this world, best creme Catalan I have ever had (and I've had many). I'm planning another trip to Barcelona, purely so that I can eat here again.

La Flauta was recommended by our hotel on Satuday night. She said that this is the restaurant she goes to when her parents visit from Madrid. It was superb. We did have to queue for about half and hour to get in at around 9.30pm. The system was fair, well organised and the time passed quickly, watching a busy restaurant in full swing - a very well-oiled machine. The atmosphere was excellent with plenty of locals and a few tourists (like us) having a great time. Food was fresh and delcious - we chose tapas from the daily specials and from recommedations our waiter gave us. A lovely mixture of fish and meat dishes, all very tasty and fresh. Great service and a great recommendation.

We visited La Flauta early one evening on the recommendation of our Air BnB host.
It wasn't very busy, and the staff were very friendly. An English menu was available, and we had a range of dishes. Unfortunately we didn't find anything we had particularly memorable. The auburgine chips with cheese and honey was the best of the offerings. The fried calamari was soggy, perhaps reheated.
There is much better food to be found elesewhere-at Biercab for example, just around the corner.

Thanks ctrunfree for your note and comment. Listening to our clients keep our encouragement to do our best everyday.
We feel happy to hear you were well attended and you liked our "berenjena chips", nevertheless we regret it was not the case with our "calamarcitos a la andaluza" which, we are pleased to tell you, are prepared right the way being commanded. Have a very nice day.

I was there with a friend. The restaurant is pretty inside but the food is not... the portions are so small like you get 5 pieces of ravioli for 6€ !!?! Everything is small Portion but for 5-7€ it’s very costly actually but it looks cheap. Also the Food was not seasoned well, it was cold and the waiters always pressured you. Sorry but it was bellow the expectations

Thanks Jonny D for your refined message and note. We are very sorry you had this disappointment about our restaurant. We try keeping the right balance between quantity, quality and price and we are persuaded we got it.
We are anyway seeing with the staff that day if something happened about de lack of seasoning and possible shortened portions.
We apologise for the rushed service you had from our waiters.
Have a very nice and sunny day.

Upon recommendation, we decided to visit La Flauta for some tapas, sangria and dessert. We had various tapas (squid, prawns, meat and potatoes). They were surely quite well prepared but maybe a bit expensive for the quality. For instance, the prawns were not cleaned from their intestinal tract and rather bland. The patatas bravas were actually kind of nice. The desserts in line with their price, meaning rather small but really well prepared (we had a crema catalana and a brownie).
However, their waitress is a pain in the butt! Constantly stressing you out asking whether you want something else... Finally a café? some more food? maybe the recommendation of the day? half a liter or an entire liter of sangria? sure not the sangria with champagne? oh and still not the daily speciality? do you still need the menus in English? can I take one of the menus? ... and I’m not talking about kindly asking over two hours... were were there one hour max and felt totally stressed out with her behaviour. Such a shame!

We came here because tow Catalans friends of ours suggested it saying that the food was great. And indeed it was!
The restaurant can get quite crowded at Spanish dinner time (21:00 to 23:00) and sometimes the noise of chats can be quite loud. Although we did not have any uncomfortable feeling. The food came in pretty quickly and the staff works really hard to make you feel comfortable.
We took mainly tapas and, must say, they were the best we tried in our 4 days in Barcelona. I absolutely loved, above all, the patatas bravas and the Jamon Serrano (ham) which I accompanied with the really good Spanish bruschetta (toasted bread with rubber tomato on top).

We went for breakfast the first day we arrived in Barcelona since it was SO early and it was one of the only spots on my list that was open at 8am. We had amazing service, delicious breakfast tapas. It was great seeing the locals come in and order bocadillos and a beer before work. The entire menu isn't available so we went back for dinner a couple days later. Service that time wasn't great, not sure what our waiters problem was and the food was hit or miss? I'm still glad we went and recommend it if its close to where you're staying! I just wish we had a nicer waiter the second time, really changes the meal...

I guess as like many people, my review will be about the food being good. I especially recommend the Foie with tenderloin tapas, deep fried cheese tapas, seafood grill etc. Oh and a spanish soup that has cuttlefish and chick peas though it is very salty. It would have been nice if the menu could state what is really traditional Spanish tapas/dishes so that it will aid those who would like a slice of the real Spanish taste choose easily.
If you are a tourist, avoid their peak hours like 1pm onwards for lunch. The queue can be very, very long. Same for their peak dinner time.
What prompted me to write this is that while the food is good, i find the staff generally very very efficient and has no time for smiles. And it seems their management is driving the staff quite hard and impatiently as i witnessed how the staff were talked to during my 3 visits to the restaurant in previous two weeks (I meant no offence).
I wish the staff could be happier in their work and smile more easily and that will certainly make the restaurant a much nicer place. Kudos to the staff of La Flauta.

If you are traveling to Barcelona, I highly recommend you dine in at La Flauta. La Flauta has delicious tapas, fresh seafood, fusion style Catalan dishes, highly sought by locals and visitors, especially Asian countries. Open late till 1am, busy every day, great for couples to large groups, accepts all major credit cards including AX and service was excellent. We dined here several times and this will be our goto place when we visit Barcelona. Best time to dine in is before 7pm.
Cheers!

A great discovery! The best tapas I've eaten in Barcelona without a doubt. We wanted to try the beef tenderloin with foie and the crispy camembert, but we were already too full. All the tapas we ordered were excellent and the price was very adjusted to the quality offered.

We visited this place several times both during winter and summer times and it is always a pleasure
Food and drinks are very good for a very decent price. With around 20€ per person including cava you will enjoy an excellent diner. As it is a very popular place it is better to go early as there is no reservation possible

This was recommended to us by the Airbnb owner. well worth the visit. We were there at 1900 and it was nearly full on a Thursday night. There was a queue when we were leaving at 2100.
The special wa roast monkfish tails Ona bed of potatoes for 9.90. Only two trays at 19.00 so worth being there early.
Great and reasonable wine selection.

This restaurant serves fresh, delicious tapas for a fair price. While the menu descriptions are bare, the food is anything but simple. The skewered shrimp and cod with honey aioli were big hits in particular. Come early or face a line. It's very popular with tourists and locals alike.

I went with my family the fist time and had an unforgettable experience. After my family went back home, I stayed a few more days. After going to two expensive, bad restaurants (avoid Boqueria Market seafood), I went back to La Flauta, got 4 tapas and a sangria for less than $20 US. Not only that, it was the most delicious food I ate the entire stay in Barcelona. If you want an affordable, life-changing meal, there you go.
