Very touristic but very nice food. Placemats with photo's of the different pinxtos and an explaning menu in many languages. Staff was very friendly and spoke very good English. Only one minor thing, our plate was gone before we where finished.

We stumbled on this restaurant whilst looking for somewhere to stop and drink whilst resting from a city walk. The food was so good coming from the kitchen we decided to have lunch. It was excellent, I had reservations about eating in such a tourist hotspot but I was very impressed. We even went back there for dinner later on... More

Poor service. We wanted to sit outside and have a drink before heading back for bed. At 10pm we ordered 2 drinks, a beer (they only had german beer) and a strawberry mojito. It took 20 mins to get one of the drinks bought out with the mojito still to follow. We were just about to leave before the beer... More

Our final basque tapas/pintxo lunch here was as good as the first...and the others! The others were sampled elsewhere. Ordering by picture and translated menu, if needed, there is a good selection at reasonable prices for convenience of location. Can sit at bar or tables (more upstairs). Hint - small range of deserts are not pictured and G&T/ lemon sorbet... More

Good location, a lot of variety, good service (Jorge was really nice, sociable and make you feel confortable). If you already know and like basque's food you gonna like it.

We had such a good experience at Txapela! We were greeted warmly at the door and the menu was explained to us (the menu also comes in a few different languages with pictures). The food was bloody fantastic (especially loved the pincho sagardoa) and enjoyed sangria. We had a good feed and it didn't blow the budget, definitely recommend a... More

Had lunch with my family. Kids menu for the kids, wife and I had 10 different tapas. The tapas were very good and it was easy to choose them because they has pictures of all available tapas at each table. Beer was not that cold. Service could have been much better. They forgot one glass, three tapas and the spoon... More

Pick any of the other tapas bars Words of Caution- we sat outside on the terrace to people watch, food was 1 euro more per dish (30% mark up), We had an awful experience at this restaurant, We had pre booked a seat outside to enjoy a night of tapas. Arrives on time to find to tables reserved for us,... More

The tapas are as good as anywhere and they had about fifty of them on the menu. They have three locations that we know of. We liked seeing images of what we were buying on the menu. Not quite as good as seeing them in person. We like to walk around restaurants, see what people are eating, and ask the... More

Nothing to write home about. Average tapas. The view was great as we were sitting across from Casa Batllo. You have your standard Tapas fare on the menu but nothing extraordinary.

Description
A piece of the Basque Country in the middle of Barcelona downtown.

Txapela is an authentic "euskal taberna" where our bars are full of PINTXOS, elaborated with the best ingredients with Protected Designation of Origin. And what a better pairing than a good glass of Txakoli, a Txikito of Basque Cider, while enjoying a sunbath in our terrace!

Staying in Eixample

Neighborhood Profile
Eixample
Passing through the glorious Plaça Catalunya, you enter the newer city district of Eixample, literally translated as “extension,” which immediately becomes recognizable by its more spacious streets and elegant atmosphere. The main artery of this sizable district, Passeig de Gracia, is lined with high-end international designer stores. Not to be outdone, the glitz and glamour of this zone is perhaps best exemplified by the comfortable and lavish five-star hotels that flank the divine and modernistic buildings from some of the world’s most recognized architects such as Gaudi and Montaner.
