28 courses of creativity, yet we left feeling dissatisfied. Why? The service was well-choreographed but not warm, the food was unique but not delicious, the ambience was clean but not interesting. My dining partner felt “challenged” by the meal, which defies the word cloud “menu”...that was presented at the top of the 3 hour experience. I think the “fun” and “enjoyment” of the meal was on behalf of the restaurant taking 235€pp for the chef’s vanity project. I agree that the menu was ‘out of the box’ in technique and presentation, but when there is no recipient satisfaction or underlying constance of theme, it just seems like a show for the show’s sake. Maybe I am not the audience for Michelin star dining, however, if I have all the money, world exposure, and open mindedness AND still cannot get on board, who is this all for?More

Very enjoyable experience, great staff. The food was surprising in many aspects. We took the 25-course classic menu and we’re not disappointed. We also shared the wine tasting for 2 which we recommend as it being another dimension to the food.

We have eaten at a lot of the “world’s best” restaurants, and Disfrutar was something special. The service was just outstanding - so warm and friendly, yet professional. We arrived before the restaurant even opened, and the chef himself personally let us in and showed...us around. I won’t even try to describe the food - everything was exquisitely executed. We had several different allergies in our group, and they accommodated everyone’s needs seamlessly. And while the food was innovative, it was all approachable - there was nothing truly bizarre or that was challenging to eat. And I could not get over the casual, relaxed atmosphere of the restaurant - it was so unlike some of the other similar restaurants we have been to, which tend to be quite stuffy. We felt perfectly relaxed the whole time! My only complaint, and this is true of most of these kinds of restaurants, is that it was just a bit too long - we were there for almost 4.5 hours. 3 would have been good. After a while it is like running a marathon instead of enjoying a meal. But I don’t want to overstate that - we enjoyed everything despite being quite sleepy by the end of the night!More

The dining experience at disfrutar is definitely to remember and to repeat in the future. We were greeted by the whole team while we were leaded to our table. This was our first visit at Disfrutar, so we chose the recommended classic menu for our experience. The 18 course menu is an explosion of flavour and technique, you can expect lots of spherification, deconstructed classics, and food preparation you definitely cannot do in your...own kitchen (unless you have a laboratory at hand). We got to the restaurant at 13:30 and left around 17:30, so take your time. The food is amazing, the pace of the meals is really good. Service in the restaurant was top notch. Only when we moved to the outside terrace for a final tea and petit fours did the attention drop notably. Basically - we felt forgotten. The additional water for our green and white tea that was offered never arrived (the first infusion was not great, since the tea was clearly brewed with way too hot water for the high-quality leaves). We ended up asking for the cheque after nothing happened for quite some time, because it was past 5pm. Now, we were tucked into a corner, so maybe the not so good visiblity for that particularly space was the reason. Other than that, the restaurant is on the louder side, especially for this category and we had to ask the waiter to repeat some explanations because we didn't hear them clear enough. The outside seating (for the final coffee) is a lot more quiet and quiet lovely (unless people smoke nearby). So, overall: the food, the ingredients, the technique is absolutely flawless, highly creative and quite an experience. The service is great most of the time. So well deserved 2 stars.More

One of the most entertaining and delicious dinners ever! Disfrutar is all it is described and deserves its Michelin Star recognition (3 stars). The service is seamless, un-stuffy and so well done. The food is sublime, with flavor combinations you can’t even describe or appreciate...until you have tasted them. In particular the “Panchino” filled with caviar and crème fresh was probably the most incredible bite I have ever tasted. And the Lychee with roses and gin was the most beautiful course but also delicious. Must try!!!More

My wife and I came to Disfrutar for dinner on the last night of our trip. We opted for the seasonal menu which I think was a mistake for first-time visitors. Should have probably gone with the classic menu as our first intro to Disfrutar....One thing I really loved at Disfurat compared to some of the other Michelin-star restaurants is its low-key and relaxed atmosphere. The service is just attentive enough without being overbearing. This was really nice to see. The food, presentation, and wine pairing really went well together. I actually thought that this restaurant had the best wine out of any of the other ones we've been to on this trip. There were also more dishes that were memorable such as the caviar donut. Overall I thought the food was OK. There was a lot of emphasis on walnuts and other nuts which I didn't care for. One dish was a squab which I didn't particularly enjoy. I just did not like many of the flavors that were presented in the seasonal menu. One big caveat: We went to Direkte and Cocina Hermanos Torres and did not enjoy those Michelin-star meals either. I believe we just don't have the right palette or flavor profile to enjoy these meals. But out of those three restaurants, we did enjoy Disfutar the most.More

What an amazing experience. You walk through an unassuming store front. A little kerfuffle: did we have a booking. And then are greeted by the whole team as you are led to your table. Having been to many Michelin star restaurants, I did not want to miss “Disfrutar” while in Barcelona so I booked for an afternoon lunch (not my preferred time to have a meal of this kind but their dinner openings did not coincide with the days...I was in town). It turned out to be a memorable and, best of all, enjoyable meal that should not be missed. The dining area is very open, airy and lends itself to a relaxed atmosphere. The excellently trained and professional staff was always attentive and friendly – I got the impression they seemed to enjoy the experience as much as the customers. They explained (and sometimes prepared) the dishes and were always solicitous of our needs during the lunch (e.g. They were aware of any allergies/preferences we had expressed in the reservation, they asked if we wished the pacing of the presentations to be slowed/accelerated in tune with our liking, etc.). We chose the “Gran Classic” tasting menu and I also opted for the wine pairing, which turned out to be a perfect marriage with each combination. The dishes were, of course, artfully presented as one would expect and bursting with flavor (also as one would expect but sometimes not present as some Michelin chefs sacrifice essence/infusion for artistic plating). What was very distinctive and unusual were the different textures involved with some foods (a “liquid” salad or a “powdered” tomato for example). The experience itself also begged the diner to involve all five senses including touch (by clever use of food texturing as noted) and smell, beyond just what would emanate from the plate (one presentation involved a splash of whiskey on the hands, which was then allowed to evaporate, then the fumes periodically inhaled to accompany the taste of the course served). All dishes ranged from very good to outstanding with the exception of a deconstructed Gilda Pintxo which in this case had marinated Mackerel/”cased” olive/small pickled peppers (if I recall correctly) but was too jarring; even with the wine pairing (a Fukuoka sake) the harshness could not be masked. One misstep aside, “Disfrutar” receives a strong recommendation, providing a harmony of food, staff and ambience to impart a fine (and fun – really!) dining experience.More
