Like being invited to dinner at someone's home. Locals place although very close to Las Ramblas. Excellent food. Big portions. Low prices. No atmosphere (LOL). Friendly wait staff/probably the owners. Daily specials as well as fixed menu. Easy Metro access. We had salad, main courses, & TWO desserts. Highly recommend.

We read about this place in our guide book and it said the waiters were rude. We found the exact opposite. We sat up at the bar to take our meal - I had Lamb's brain which was actually half a lamb's head, absolutely delicious but don't let it put you off, there are other more traditional dishes, too. Our... More

Although next to the Ramblas this venue really offers something for people that want to explore the real Catalunya. Here's not much attention given to design or interior, but rather on an authentic food experience. No music. No deco. Lots of locals. Great taste. Cheapest beer in barcelona (i guess)! Full recommendation!

After waiting unsuccessfully for an interminable period to eat at seafood stalls in the market, I asked a butcher at a market stall where she went to eat in the local area and she recommended Restaurant Romesco. Welcomed upon entry, I was quickly seated. The daily menu had a nice variety and I went for the gazpacho, tuna steak, and... More

The restaurant was quiet when we arrived but crowded when we left. Despite this we were not rushed. One starter and both main courses came from the menu of the day and were very good. My rabbit was nicely cooked and not at all dry. Our only criticism might be the French fries that came with everything but there might... More

Recomended by a friend, we sought out this restaurant. Looks are deceptive, there's more space than a peep in the window suggests. It's good homemade Catalonian fare. Enjoyed the starters, especially the meat platter. The main courses were plain and good. A little salty for my taste, but I found most food in Barcelona like that. My partner says the... More

This was such a good place to eat. If you have ever been to Wong Kie in Soho, London this is a Spanish version. Get in order, get good food quickly, beer in a bottle, no niceties but very good cheap eats and quickest service. Lots on the menu, massive portions, we couldn't eat it all, which is saying something.... More

As two students on a budget, my family who had been here TWICE while travelling, suggested this restaurant to us. Very affordable meals-im talking dinner for less than 8 euros. Great quality, and big portions-had leftovers for the next day too! The waiters were very helpful, as there was an incident when we came and they handled it extremely well.... More

Lots of offal. Pigs feet, Sheep heads, all the odd bits, but other less threatening choices too all for practically nothing. The Catalan salad is a vegetarian's nightmare; it is just slices of assorted charcuterie topped with half an olive. The waiters and chefs have some of the finest and oldest moustaches in Barcelona. Cheap as patatas bravas

Basic place but great food. Good quick service. Amazingly reasonable price. We loved it. Starters and mains not too big absolutely right so no quibble with price. House wine €4.70 a bottle and great quality. We will be going back.

Staying in El Raval

Neighborhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
