About
This property was present and witnessed Barcelona's move from the late nineteenth century. Ca L'Estevet is a part of the rich history of the city as a rallying point of the certain nuclei of Barcelona's society, which had its great moment from the formation and development of the ineffable "gauche divine". The reports of La Vanguardia filled its capacity at noon, and today there are two cultural center of reference, the Museum of Contemporary Art (MACBA) and the "Centre de Cultura Contemporanea de Barcelona" (CCCB), as well as neighboring universities, while at night it still remains one of the most traditional meeting places.

Hola! If you're ever in Barcelona, and looking for an authentic Catalan cuisine, come dine at Estevet. One of the owners was so kind for sharing his family history, and he also shared that almost all of their patrons during the week are all locals...dining Catalan style while most tourist dine during the weekends. He recommended making a reservation. We loved everything we ordered, but we definitely enjoyed their mussels and Escargot. We were also surprised how huge their portion was. Our mussels was a whole pot and oh....so good. Best of all, their Catalan dessert called "Crema Catalana" was amazingly so good! Great way to end a perfect meal. Super thank you to our dear friend who lives in Barcelona who recommended us to dine here. I can't share enough that you have to come dine at Estevet and experience the flavor of Catalan. adéu!More

We tried the Catalan-style spinach with raisins and pine nuts, the duck l'orange (one of the best versions we've ever had. Juicy with a kick-ass sauce!), and the fried and baked cod that came with white beans. We were too full for dessert but would...have loved to try it. Absolutely amazing food and I could fault nothing. I'd happily go back.More

We were visiting Barcelona for our 25th Anniversary and were looking for an authentic Catalan Restaurant. After researching we found this place and were not disappointed. We loved it! We were told by the owner that we were the only foreigners eating that day (...January 1st 2020) in the restaurant. Everybody else were locals. The food was fantastic and the service as well.More

The restaurant was opened in the 19th century and preserved an old-school bohemian decor. It’s been a favorite hangout spot for the local artistic community and hosted numerous famous people (such as Mark Zuckerberg as you can find out from the framed article on the...wall))). We booked a table for three online (so convenient!). It was the beginning of lunch time and the restaurant was empty. Then clients started arriving and at the end the place was packed. The staff looked at us a couple of times but didn’t give us any trouble as our friend was very very late. When he joined us, we ordered food. I tried the soup of the day (creamy prawn soup! Yum!) and cod fritters (delicious! I read about this recommendation online). My husband took brain in batter (which was superb!) and Catalan sausage botifarra. Crema catalana was exquisite as well! Very good and honest food! One of the favorites on our trip. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant and the design of the menu too. Servers were nice and polite. Great experience that I highly recommend to anyone who goes to Barcelona.More

This time (our second visit and a chance to introduce our friends!) we were able to find this somewhat out of the way restaurant more easily! We were the first diners and I knew that I wanted Willy to be our server so when he...opened the door I greeted him with a huge smile, "WILLY!" and he looked surprised but then remembered me and we hugged each other! The truly authentic Catalan restaurant was just as delightful as we remembered and ALL four of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals! IF you wish to experience a truly memorable Catalan gourmand experience with excellent service in a lovely venue this is for you!More

Serves probably quite authentic Catalan cuisine, but unless you know Catalan food well you might wind up disappointed. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to the casual tourist.

Arrived 7 pm . Greeted kindly. We were the first guests allowing an opportunity to talk to the Lady of the house who helped us choose. We ordered 5 dishes. She suggested half dishes for the vegetables. She could have let us buy full plates....Our mains were Veal with mushrooms ( Fricando ) and Cod ( Bacalla ) , side of spinach and chickpeas (\Espinacs ) and side of grilled veg. ( Escalivado ) which is served cold which I did not expect being Canadian.. Also french fries for the Veal dish in case my Husband did not like his meal. As it turned out it was delicious. My cod was home style too with beans and sauce...yummy.. The spinach was different and tasty too. Almost ordered a to go spinach for breakfast but held back already having food in the fridge . Had an opportunity to speak to the Man of the house. Shared stories of Catalan life. Husband and Wife still passionate about their business. They do their job well and are also nice people. Enjoyed the entire experience. Would return. .More

I was going to Barcelona with a group of friends 12 in all and I wanted to find something special for the last night in the city, I cross referenced local restaraunts on other websites and Ca L'Estevet kept coming up as one of the...better places to visit and I was much pleased that I had spent time doing my research. Its not far from Teatre Goya just down from there and 1st left ,Ca L' Estevet has an unassuming entrance but dont be put off by this in any way, I booked table for 12 two weeks before arriving and confirmed on the day to make sure that all 12 of us could be seated together. Starters were very good, I had the fresh Asparagus with Ham and it was really tasty, this was followed by the Veal and mushrooms which was well worth having and I recommend this dish, I had the ice cream to follow which was lovely. Other people in our party had a shared Paella, shelled and boned, one had Mussels as a main course which she said was very good. Another had a steak which was delicious. Surprise was the Snails as a starter, someone in our group who visits Paris regularly commented that to get the same amount of snails in Paris would be unheard of as she usually get just six but there must have been 4 times this amount served as a started complete with dipping sauce also. All in all well worth finding, a family run place which is unpretentious and runs like a clock, no problems with service/ food /wine /bill/ a varied menu. A local 70th birthday party was being held at next table to the one we were in , so in my books that speaks volumes.More

Well, this is one of those stories that if you as a traveler to foreign countries dont open yourself up to the locals, you will miss out. While dinning at another restaurant, we get into a conversation with a local family whom the daughters studied...college in the states, NY and Toledo OH of all places. Their father Pepe and his wife are the owners of his fifth generation Catalan restaurant from 1890. This place is booked ALL of the time well in advance, and per Pepe, is off the tourist track, the best of Catalan cuisine, and he personally made sure we had a lunch reservation at 1:30 pm on Wednesday 9/25. We made it there on time, EVERY table was reserved, and here is the reason why - GOURMET Catalan cuisine, some of the most interesting yet delicious food we had in Barcelona. It was so good, we gave the recommendation info to the Hotel Arts Barcelona to put it on their recommendation list. So Pepe and family, I know you are in the Alps at your cabin, enjoy your holiday, and we will be sure to bring our family to yours when we return again!More
