We found El Salon while strolling through the Gothic Quarter, the smell alone immediately sold us and we canceled our dinner reservation at another spot to eat dinner here instead. WOW! The flatbreads were intensely flavorful and fresh and all the food we tried was...amazing and savory! Cannot recommend this place highly enough! It's been a year and we still think about our meal at El Salon often!More

Visiting Barcelona with friends and came upon this lovely restaurant. Understated and tastefully decorated in a beautiful old building in the gothic quarter. The food was nicely presented and very tasty. I had a salad as a starter, oxtail off the bone in a port...reduction for main (from the specials board) and apple pie with cream for dessert. A Pinot noir was a lovely wine to accompany it. Would definitely go again.More

Our friends from Barcelona brought us here. Their first experience at this restaurant was nice and so they booked a table for when we came to visit. Our host made a reservation in advance and got the confirmation through the text message. When we arrived...though waiters made a scene about our friend not giving the right phone number and they insisted that they tried to call him and it was not going through. Our host tried to explain that the number is right and as a fact he received the confirmation text. Anyhow, we sat at the table with our friend being not in the mood because of all this. I don’t know if our company liked the food, but my husband and I really didn’t. The presentation of all dishes was very underwhelming (which would be ok if the food was delicious, but it was blend and so average), the taste was disappointing (despite the descriptions sounding pretty good). During the dinner the service was fine. Also, the place was quite cute but for the first half of our meal there was a kids birthday party which kind of ruined the charm of it.More

My wife and I came here for dinner in February, 2020. Only a few tables were available to choose from for our reservation at 21:00, none of which were spacious or idea. We took the one in the corner which offered my wife the best...view of the restaurant. After about 15 minutes we were still without any sort of menu or water. To make matters worse, the server started helping a table that arrived after we did before finally getting to us. When they finally engaged, the servers were both very jovial and helpful. The food was amazing; my cod was cooked to perfection. To end the night, the green lemon sorbet and cava didn't disappoint. All around a very good meal, with spotty service that improved over time.More

Arrived at 7.30 pm when the restaurant had very few diners, we were looked after very well and the prawns and monkfish won our hearts. Great selection of starters too. Enjoyed organic wine. We'd recommend a

Very good pumpkin soup for starters. The main dish was also excellent (meat). Topped with nice glass of red wine.

In Barcelona for the weekend staying at Port Bell so walking distance from El Salon. Researched on TripAdvisor and went for an early dinner as we hadn't booked. We were accommodated and had a very pleasant meal & wine. Thoroughly recommend El Salon.

If you are looking for a place away from the herds of tourists then you should go here. Plenty of locals frequent here and it is pretty obvious why - nice Catalonian food and super friendly service. There is a good selection of starters, fish...and meat. Lots of Spanish wines on the wine list and all very reasonably prices. We had duck and lamb chops - both were delicious. The staff from the kitchen and in the restaurant is very friendly, helpful with recommendations and swift. This is a nice place for dinner - I will go again for sure next time in BCN.More

My wife booked this for a group of 12 people from my company, which is anything but a predictable dining experience. El Salon handled it with aplomb! Everything was excellent, from the quality and variety of the dishes, to the service and the setting! They...are definitely on my short list of best places to dine in Barcelona!More
