I've always loved Gaudi's architecture and when I heard there was a superb restaurant in one of his buildings I made my way there with husband and friends. It did not disappoint! The food was excellent and was applauded by all four of us....and we are New Yorkers with great restaurants all around us. The surroundings were very much of... More

It was time to indulge and I booked a table for one. Before stepping in had not even known was in a Gaudi designed building and space. Absolutely gorgeous. Full of old world charm. Could easily have been in the 19th century. Spectacularly beautiful space; friendly English speaking staff. Very elegant but not expensive. I started with a salad of... More

We enjoyed great lunch in this traditional restaurant that is located in the center of Barcelona. Although it was holiday season, most of the visitors were locals including business people who came there to lunch. We selected our food from their daily lunch menu, as it had several tempting option. Food was good, and the service was friendly. The restaurant... More

Wonderful building, sympathetically restored into a luxurious restaurant. Fantastic to enjoy a meal in such a historical building - a feast for the eyes and mind Incredible wine list with reasonably priced bottles, great staff if a little formal, superb interesting food. I had the salted brioche with foie gras starter - fantastic marriage of flavours, - amuse bouche of... More

We had a wonderful, slow-paced lunch at this classy restaurant. Set in a Gaudi bldg, the restaurant offers an elegant, old world experience. We started with the foie gras appetizers. Amazing. I had the monkfish and my wife had a terrific cochinillo. Although the monkfish was excellent, I was totally jealous after my wife gave me a taste of that... More

The building is one of the earliest examples of Gaudi's design talents. it was built as a family home with the owner's business offices on the ground floor. These offices have been preserved as individual dining areas so it is great for business meetings. The staff is attentive, helpful and bi-lingual. The food is very good but not excellent. The... My husband and I ate dinner here upon the recommendation of a friend for our anniversary dinner, and also because it's a Gaudi building. The setting is pretty, although a little stuffy/ overly formal. Our appetizer was delicious, salted brioche with mushrooms and foie gras. However, both of our main courses were disappointing. I got the "soupy rice with lobster... More

Casa Calvet is a lesser-known Gaudi building not far from the Palace Hotel in the heart of Barcelona. The restaurant is housed in the ground floor, which was used as offices when the Calvet family lived there. The rooms have been meticulously maintained and restored, and the food at times matches the innovation and imagination of Gaudí himself. Let your... More

Staying in Eixample

Neighborhood Profile
Eixample
Passing through the glorious Plaça Catalunya, you enter the newer city district of Eixample, literally translated as “extension,” which immediately becomes recognizable by its more spacious streets and elegant atmosphere. The main artery of this sizable district, Passeig de Gracia, is lined with high-end international designer stores. Not to be outdone, the glitz and glamour of this zone is perhaps best exemplified by the comfortable and lavish five-star hotels that flank the divine and modernistic buildings from some of the world’s most recognized architects such as Gaudi and Montaner.
