We came to Barcelona over 20 years ago and had found a wonderful book in London called eating out in Barcelona that recommended this cafe. We gave book to friends but never got it back Thanks to trip advisor managed to find the cafe again. Fortunately just the same. Difficult to find though easier now with new technology but the... The food was good. We had Catalan meat soup, rice and duck. The prices were reasonable. It was a little dark and crowded, and the waitress was attentive enough. Overall, it was a nice experience.

We stopped by for lunch and had the duck confit and pasta with prawns. They were both simple, yet amazing! Very professional and friendly staff. I would go here again.

This was fantastic. Went for dinner last night. Lovely room, exposed stone walls, low lighting. Mix of travellers & local families. Had crudités to start which 3 of us shared then two half plates each. I had grilled squid with rice and rack of lamb with mushroom. They were both exceptional plates of food. House red ("Alcor" I think) is... More

Two of us enjoyed a nice evening together with good food and service. We had two half plates each which was just right after about 18 hours of traveling. The octopus risotto was perfect - tender octopus and al dente rice. The starters with fresh seasonal artichokes and ham were good. For dessert we had a lime sorbet with ginger,... More

It is some years since we ate here, although friends have done recently and really enjoyed it. The place still has a traditional air, a low key atmosphere, sensible prices and reliable cooking. We will be back much sooner next time!

We have been 3 times to this restaurant. The risotto with fois gras is a must... excellent tapas for appetizers. Priorato wines on the list are very much worth trying. Staff was extremely friendly.

On the recommendation of our Lonely Planet guide, my husband and I visited this restaurant for lunch while touring the Gothic Quarter. This was easily the best meal we had while vacationing in Spain. We just ordered two mains and no drinks (my husband had a cold) except water. I ordered the normal portion of pork and my husband ordered... More

Me and my boyfriend came here for a romantic Catalan meal and we were not disappointed! All the dishes were delicious, rich and flavoursome - we ordered 4 half dishes between us. Service was great and prompt! Overall a perfect dining experience in Barcelona

My son and I ate at Cafe De L'Academia on the advice of our concierge at the Mercer. We sat at the bar as we walked over from the hotel at about 945pm weekday without a reservation. Bar seating is limited to about 5 people and is a bit cramped. The restaurant is a recommended venue in Fodors so it... More
