We were expecting the best fish restaurant in Barcelona, but when I got my meal there was a bone in the fish. We just asked to replace the meal, I just wanted the Dorado fish without bones. But, when they brought the dish, I got...More

When I was in Barcelona last December while leading a tour group, I went to take a dinner at Botafumeiro restaurant. It was actually recommended to me by the hotel concierge on my previous visit, and I had promised myself that I would return one...More

This place is a bustling hive of activity. Service is impeccable. I am allergic to shellfish, so had one of wild fish dishes - the Monkfish. It was tasty, but the texture wasn't great, and for 37 Euros, definitely nothing special. My daughter had the...More

I went to eat to Botafumeiro and finished in the Emergency of CIMA Hospital in Barcelona with a gastroenteritis. I wrote the note previously in TripAdvisor and the people of the restaurant did not paid any attention, and I think that a serious place pay...More

This restaurant is one of those traditional ones, a classic; and for a good reason: everything is delicious and the place is beautiful! It's specialty is seafood. We enjoyed the best paella ever, my kids had a shrimp appetizer (as entree), a beef plate, and...More

Special occasion birthday dinner. Entree sizes were huge and we ordered way too much food. Food was delicious and the service was impeccable. A very old school restaurant that clearly has history. Romantic and wonderful.

Our family had a fabulous meal at Botafumeiro. We went for lunch with our todders - 4 yo and 2 yo. The restaurant was very elegant and old school, but they still made us feel very welcome with the young children. They spoiled our kids...More

We spent our last night in Barcelona at the restaurant Botafumeiro, a place that specializes in seafood. In fact, I think we only counted five non-fish items on a VERY big menu. I was initially disappointed because my main choice, filet of sole, was the...More

Gracia literally stands out from the pack. It used to
be an independent town until late into the 19th
century. Though it’s just a short commute away from
the center, a visit here feels like you’re in a whole
different city. The bohemian vibe has drawn many
international artists to this area, resulting in a
wide selection of galleries, live music and artsy
boutique stores. The nightlife is centered around the

Among the three hundred diners that fill this 30-year-old restaurant every day, you may spot the King of Spain, movie stars, and politicians. Botafumeiro has to be a well-oiled machine to keep all and sundry happy and coming back for more, and it does. The decor is so trad, with wood railings and banisters, white table linens, and nautically-themed art and objets. The menu focusses on the sea, try fruits de mer for two to start, followed by anglerfish fisherman's stew with white beams or one of the barbecued fish, then a dessert of Belgian chocolate volcano with chocolate sherbet. Wine list is an ambassador for Spanish wines.
