Starting with Jamon de Bellota, croquetas, and salpicon de bogavante the people next to us decided they had to follow our order. They were delicious. We then had arroz de bogavante. To die for. They could not find our booking but fitted us in with a smile. And the bill including wine was 160 euro. Very good value. I think... More

Very traditional decor, with pictures on the wall of the hallway of all the celebrities who visited the place. Open kitchen, sea food. Very kind service, speaking proper English. Large portion at a very reasonable price. Starts with appetizers to share (ham, croquetas in particular). Very fresh seafood. Even the deserts are very good. 50-60€/per person with good spanish wine.

Botafumeiro is a restaurant which pops up frequently when you look for a sea food restaurant in Barcelona. When you look at the pictures of the food this is pretty much what you get. It is well prepared. We had a sea food platter (nicely cooked and big )Staff is friendly and efficient. We (just the two of us )... More

We went here on a recommendation and were glad that we did. The only negative comment is the lack of any real maitre d' service on entering the restaurant - it was guesswork trying to establish where in this very big restaurant we were to be seated and had to find someone to show us in. Anyway after that everything... More

Located in the Gràcia area of the city. This is a huge restaurant with multiple rooms. This clearly made the list of top restaurants in guidebooks as we were seated in a room full of Americas and tourists. The first room off the front door has tanks full of fresh shell fish and a fish munger station reminding you that... More

Excellent seafood and fish. Tuxedoes waiters. Super service. Figure about 70 Euros per person, with an appy and main course, and extra for wine. Worth every Euro!

This was our last night in Barcelona and couldn't have picked a better restaurant then this. Service was on target. We had a non seafood lover, she was gracefully accommodated with a vegetable paella for an entree. They also had the tomato flatbread which we couldn't get enough of while in Spain. Appetizers of smoked salmon with a plate of... More

Botafumeiro Restaurant is an elegant restaurant with beautiful ambiance and delicious food! We enjoyed the seafood paella and grilled Sea Bass! Our waiter Farooq was amazing! He made the dinner a special experience! A must visit when in Barcelona!

A very traditional Spanish restaurant with a very warm ambiance, serving wonderful cuisine and even better service. There are three or four separate dining spaces with dedicated servers in each. The service was impeccable - warm, attentive and accurate - starters were delivered to the table in 10 minutes or less. The menu is largely fish, with Gallego specialties (from... More

This is a top of the line, traditional seafood restaurant. It's expensive, but portions are big and certainly divideable which in turn cheapens the meal per head. It is fine, fine dining and they charge for it - the reason they don't make five stars for me was the service. When you are charging these prices, you can NOT fail... More

Among the three hundred diners that fill this 30-year-old restaurant every day, you may spot the King of Spain, movie stars, and politicians. Botafumeiro has to be a well-oiled machine to keep all and sundry happy and coming back for more, and it does. The decor is so trad, with wood railings and banisters, white table linens, and nautically-themed art and objets. The menu focusses on the sea, try fruits de mer for two to start, followed by anglerfish fisherman's stew with white beams or one of the barbecued fish, then a dessert of Belgian chocolate volcano with chocolate sherbet. Wine list is an ambassador for Spanish wines.

Staying in Gracia

Neighborhood Profile
Gracia literally stands out from the pack. It used to be an independent town until late into the 19th century. Though it’s just a short commute away from the center, a visit here feels like you’re in a whole different city. The bohemian vibe has drawn many international artists to this area, resulting in a wide selection of galleries, live music and artsy boutique stores. The nightlife is centered around the vibrant Gracia’s plaças, where young and old gather to enjoy a drink outside. Carrer de Verdi, its main street, offers affordable restaurants and a movie theater that screens new as well as classic films in their original language. However Gracia's greatest treasure lies just up the hill at Guell Park, where Antoni Gaudi's vibrant and revolutionary art sculptures stand atop unequaled views of Barcelona.
