Botafumeiro is probably the best seafood restaurant we've ever experienced. The service from our server Jonathan was impeccable and the gigantic mixed seafood platter included lobsters, several types of prawns and shrimp, several types of clams and fish cooked to perfection. A truly excellent dining experience.

I was looking for a good fish/seafood restaurant near our appartments in Gracia to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. Thanks to Tripadvisor I found one. I passed this location a few times already when I did some shopping at Gran de Gracia, but I didn't notice this was a restaurant. The entrance is pretty small and unnoted. Surprisingly, the area inside... More

Very typical restaurant in Barcelona. Pretty people, great food presentation, interesting choices, great wine list and just an overall great choice in Barcelona. The king crab was off the charts!

You clearly need to have a reservation in order to dine there. However, once everything is set, you can be sure you`ll be happy about your dinner. The place offers cosy tables appropriate for both enjoying the food and the company of your fellow diners. -This was certainly true of all the famous guests shown on the photos, displayed on the... This restaurant specializes in fish products. I don't like fish, so I ordered a solomillo, but it was still a 5/5! The fish though, looked amazing and my family was very satisfied. The deserts the service and the restaurant is a 5/5 a must go in Barcelona. But take into consideration ($$$$$)

Our hotel recommended this as “the best seafood restaurant” in Barcelona. We find that hard to believe. It is definitely mass produced seafood. As you walk through the front (we did not notice this until we left otherwise would have been our first clue…), you could see giant paella pans (which would serve about 30-40 people) being prepared. It felt... More

The concierge at our hotel said this was the best seafood restaurant in Barcelona. I hope not. Food was OK - of the 6 courses we had between the 2 of us (starters, mains and desserts) I'd say 1 was really good, 2 were good, 2 were OK and one was poor. The atmosphere though was non-existent. We got stuck... More

For a country that is supposed be in recession, Sunday lunch was a very busy family time. Judging by the number of lobsters that passed by me, there is no shortage of funds for the finest food! I reserved online but when I went to lunch there was no reservation, but it is such a huge restaurant I was seated... More

Description
Among the three hundred diners that fill this 30-year-old restaurant every day, you may spot the King of Spain, movie stars, and politicians. Botafumeiro has to be a well-oiled machine to keep all and sundry happy and coming back for more, and it does. The decor is so trad, with wood railings and banisters, white table linens, and nautically-themed art and objets. The menu focusses on the sea, try fruits de mer for two to start, followed by anglerfish fisherman's stew with white beams or one of the barbecued fish, then a dessert of Belgian chocolate volcano with chocolate sherbet. Wine list is an ambassador for Spanish wines.

Staying in Gracia

Neighborhood Profile
Gracia
Gracia literally stands out from the pack. It used to be an independent town until late into the 19th century. Though it’s just a short commute away from the center, a visit here feels like you’re in a whole different city. The bohemian vibe has drawn many international artists to this area, resulting in a wide selection of galleries, live music and artsy boutique stores. The nightlife is centered around the vibrant Gracia’s plaças, where young and old gather to enjoy a drink outside. Carrer de Verdi, its main street, offers affordable restaurants and a movie theater that screens new as well as classic films in their original language. However Gracia's greatest treasure lies just up the hill at Guell Park, where Antoni Gaudi's vibrant and revolutionary art sculptures stand atop unequaled views of Barcelona.
