Perfect place to drink a beer and eat something “para picar” with friends. The location is tiny but nice, good choice of beers and food. Great location, it makes it a smart relaxing point after a day around the city.

Spain was a little slow getting out of the starting blocks in relation to the craft beer revolution that has swept Europe over the last decade or so but now there are so many great craft beer bars popping up all over Spain and particularly...in the big cities such as Madrid and Barcelona, we were in Madrid earlier in the year in May and visited 10 craft beer bars a day on our eight days holiday to that magnificent city but on our resent holiday to Barcelona there's even more craft beer bars and Ale & Hop was a great example of the type of bars that we visited. Walking in the craft beer bar I knew I would enjoy my visit to here, the interior is awesome, nice wall art,exposed brickwork, a cool looking serving bar complete with boards behind the bar displaying the various beers on offer. My twin brother Stephen and I were here on a roasting hot late Friday afternoon, greeted warmly by a very pleasant and smiling member of staff ,we had a quick study of the beers on offer and my brother started with Cyclic Beer Farm farmhouse IPA 5.5% while I went for Cyclic Beer Farm grisette farmhouse ale 3.5% ,both these beers were served in excellent condition, we got a nice table were we just chilled out and took in the great craft beer bar we were in while sipping our beers. My beer was superb,at 3.5% it wasn't the strongest beer on offer but it was packed with taste,very easy to drink and a beer style I really enjoyed,my twin brother Stephen also gave the thumbs up to his beer. While sipping our beers we had a good study of our next beer and we both decided to try Northern Monk & Moor Patrons black IPA 6.6% ,these beers were again served in absolutely pristine condition, a stronger ale,an ale not to rush but to savour but being in such a wonderful bar and enjoying such a quality ale why would you want to rush anything. We really enjoyed our beers in here, between my twin brother and I we sampled three great beer styles before we moved on and for a first time visit we were very impressed with this bar. This is a craft brewpub with quite the selection of vegetarian food. That's right, we vegetarians like a SELECTION of good food and beer, and these folks provide both in one place (thanks)! If you're specifically looking for beers brewed in Barcelona note that Ale...and Hop does serve craft beers from other locations, but if you don't mind a selection of delicious European beers including cask beers, then they have some wonderful options. Their farmhouse ales - saison and grisette - are excellent. Berliner Weiss was also quite nice. We visited twice. Food and service were excellent on our first visit, just good on our second visit (different server and cook).

My girlfriend and I LOVE beer and appreciate good food. We were so happy we found Ale and Hop. We tried some of the different beers before deciding on the one we each wanted. The menu had a great selection of vegetarian options. I ordered...the Mejicana burger and loved it. my only complaint was it was a bit small. I ordered a side of the Patatas bravas and they were delicious. My girlfriend ordered the Parmigiana and really enjoy her meal as well. I DEFINITELY recommend going to check Ale and Hop out!More
