This restaurant was on our list to try if we were in the Gracia neighborhood....unfortunately we were there at lunchtime and they weren't open. We happen to be there another day around 9:30 and the place was packed. At first we were told there may...not be room, but then Pilar the owner came out, talked to us, learned our names and the rest of the night we were treated like family. Pilar and her staff were amazing and the tapas were delicious. This was probably the most fun we had at dinner the entire trip, we talked about Pilar and Gata Mala the rest of the trip. I would highly recommend this hidden spot, it was well worth finding!! Bonus, you get a free tapas with the purchase of a drink!! I'm definitely recommending this restaurant to any of my friends that are heading to Barcleona!! Pilar-T raci, Rashida and Ricki say Hi and we love you!!!More

I have to say that out of all the restaurants we visited during our vacation in Barcelona “Gata Mala” is the most memorable place we had been too from a restaurant standpoint. Pilar and her staff are the absolute treasure that you must encounter while...in Barcelona because the love and passion that she provided with an exceptional dinner experience does not come close to any place you will eat during your stay. Go enjoy a home cooked meal in such a great environment and the love for traditional authentic dishes. We love you Pilar from Juan & Sabrina...More

What a gem! This place is worth the distance to travel if you’re staying closer to town. Tiny little bar/restaurant ran by some lovely people. As previous reviews say, you receive a free tapas when you order a drink, which edge delicious! No English menu...however the hosts were great in translating to us even though their English wasn’t fluent. We had the grilled vegetable plate, beef/spinach fried balls and ham/cheese/tomato tortilla. All fabulous. The best part about this experience is the authentic experience and friendly staff. Not touristy at all which is why I like it. Many locals came in for 1 small beer and free tapas then off they went. It was fully packed with people when we left. Definitely recommend!More

Stepping into Gata Mala was like being welcomed home by family. My husband, son and I have been traveling around Spain for two weeks so far. Gata Mala is, hands down, the favorite place we have been! Pilar is one of the kindest humans I've...ever met. Her warmth was enveloping and the tapas she brought us were delicious!! Each tapa had a story of her family and their love attached to it. (Tapas are free with each drink order...which was a lovely surprise here in Barcelona!) If you are ever in Barcelona, do not miss out on Gata Mala's (and Pilar's) brilliant hospitality and delightful tapas! We will be back!More

Love this place! Been coming here since I moved to Barcelona. There's a great atmosphere, typical tapas, bravas is amazing and the staff and owners are super friendly. Also you get a free tapa with a drink which in Barcelona is rare! Well worth going...but beware it's busy with tourists and locals alike so try and get there fairly early :)More

This is an authentic Tapas restaurant. Pilar is the best host of anyplace in Barca and her sister Rosie works the counter like no one else. There is space for about 20 so make a reservation and don't miss it. The food is very good...and the company just as good. There are many great choices for vegetarians, too.More

Needed somewhere to make up for a very poor meal on the la rambla last night and this hit the spot!!! They were full when we tried to get in with no booking (a good sign) we came back 15 minutes later and true to...their word they had a table for us. The chef helped us with our choices and he was not wrong with any. If we ever come back to Barcelona this will be our first choice!More

The restaurant may look like a dive bar to the US tourist eye but it has some of the best tapas style food in the city, and very kind and attentive service. We sat at the bar because the tables were full and had a...blast. The best patatas bravas we ate during our 10 days in Barcelona. The eggplant dish and the chorizo tapas were also delicious. We went on the weekend and clearly you'd need reservations to get a table.More

We really like this place. Authentic little place in beautiful and calm Garcia quarter of Barcelona. Very nice staff, quick to approach and order, lovely food - local tapas for decent prices. We tried ‘combinada’ which is a little bit of everything (€12) and 2...bambolas (local delicious sort of dumpling (€2,5 each), loved it and we have been full. Awesome place and experience. Gracia literally stands out from the pack. It used to
be an independent town until late into the 19th

the center, a visit here feels like you’re in a whole
different city. The bohemian vibe has drawn many
international artists to this area, resulting in a
wide selection of galleries, live music and artsy
boutique stores. The nightlife is centered around the

Yes, booking recommended. It's a small place. Outsideand inside space limited - I don't recall a terrace.

Oops - just say this. It would be difficult as it's a really small bar. Sadly, I think you can only call.
