Had lunch at this little hidden gem in Barcelonetta yesterday. Had the best ever baby squids and a lovely grilled octopus with fries and aioli (and more). Don't miss out on this spot. Already looking forward to next visit.

This place is a gem, it's amazing ! It's small, homely and very welcoming !!! The food is served sensibly, attractively and steaming hot ! Prices are very, very good too. As for the main street, it's full of all those kinds of places that you definitely do not want to eat in !

Late lunch, being defined in this instance by 5pm! We had a couple of hours between the arrival of a train and the departure of a plane, so decided to get a reservation here. It is an intimate bar that makes beautiful local food that is served by exceptionally friendly and knowledgable staff. It is located in Barceloneta, famous for... More

After reading all great reviews on TripAdvisor and taking a walk around the area, we decided to take our luck at this little welcoming bodega. We were hesitant as they said it was tapas and we wanted dinner. So we ordered Monkfish, squid and octopus. All dishes were amazing and a lot bigger than tapas. Hence no dessert was ordered.... This is a small place run by a family. The food is freshly cooked and very tasty, the location is easy to reach from barceloneta metro station. The small restaurant makes up for its lack of polished decor with charm and great food. Definately worth visiting for fresh seafood at a great price. I'll be back for sure. All round... More

La Peninsula is on a residential street in the waterfront area. It is a street behind the busy main drag. It is a charming little place. There is a printed menu, but better are the dishes listed on the chalkboard. The waitress brought us up to the board and not only explained each dish, but showed each one to us.... More

We went to the Bodega La Peninsular due to the very good reviews on TripAdvisor. Unfortunately it was a big disappointment - two of the tapas we had were cold (one was frozen inside), the salmon was cooked so much that it wasn't tender anymore and the taste of the dishes was okay at best. Not a place we will... More

A very friendly tapas bar cum restaurant. Not expensive, friendly if haphazard service. A nice place to while away an evening.

Just got back from Barcelona and spent our last night at Bodega's. The cuisine is first class, the customer service excellent, the ambience is perfect. This restaurant is cosy, local and really traditional, no fancy white tablecloths etc but 100% the best food we experienced in Barcelona and we ate in some swanky places.

Staying in Barceloneta

Neighborhood Profile
Barceloneta
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
