We had an excellent meal and the food was very well presented and very nice service. One thing that we didn’t like, we had our son with us and we asked for some shrimps for him to eat, the waiter said he will take care...of it and brought 5 pieces of shrimps steamed. When the bill came he charged us 63€. When we asked about it, as it was the most expensive dish in our order he said these shrimps are special. Moral of the story, if you are a tourist order what is on the menu or ask the price before, they tend to take advantage of this.More

This was our first visit to Espai Kru. Original, tasty and well balanced. Very friendly and helpful service.

I booked here for a special meal for my boyfriend who loves sushimi and fish in general. We picked from the menu and the waiters were great at explaining how much food to order and we discovered you can make your own mixed plate of...sushimi and they work out the price for the fish you picked. Everything came as a plate to share including the main dishes. The quality of the fish was very good and well paired with other flavours to enhance the fish (with the exception of the sea bass which was a bit overpowered). The deserts were excellent too! Our meal came to about €120 in total for the food and drink which felt a good price for the amount and quality of we had.More

I visited last month and was pleasantly surprised by the creativity, quality of the food and overall great service that we received. In particular, our server Kevin was particularly friendly, well informed and accomodating to all our requests and inquiries. I will surely visit again...in the future.More

I have been to Espai Kru in several occasions the last few weeks ago. The standard is high in terms of staring material and preparation of the row plate. Also the presentation is well done keeping a raw fish in its integrity but actually well...prepared and cut. Fine , If you like Sashimi or Cheviche style sea food we are at the best of it rappresentation also thanks to the great variety and quality of sea food available in Barcellona. What it may result disappointing however is the poor overalla quality of what is cooked . All the warm plates We have ordered exept the fried was really not acceptable particularly in consideration of the price. Over 45 Euro for a portion of Tourbo or Brill wich I had to return twice to the kitchen because it was still raw inside and without any side dish like potatato or vegetable . In few word I did not find the same attention they have for the raw plate also for the cooked one. Also price is somehow on the very high side as at the end the service and the ambiance is not so up level. Wine list can be improved and mark up much over the average.More

My review maybe slightly unfair in this case as I am vegetarian and Espai Kru specialises in raw food as the name implies. However, by Barcelona standards, it is quite expensive (100 euros + for two inc a bottle of bog standard cava) and at...those prices I expect much better service, decor (it was a bit schizophenic) and a decent choice for vegetarians, after all, this is the 21st century and what's wrong with raw vegetables? Even the mushroom risotto was based on a meat stock. The meal was slightly redeemd by the deserts...mine was alcohol soaked pineapple, which I loved. My visiting friend, for whom I had chosen this local restaurant was underwhelmed.I suspect they are playing to the expense account visitors from the Crowne PLaza across the road.More

This is a wonderful little restaurant in the heart of the city. It is attractive and well run as it serves a unique variety of foods and flavors--all accompanied with great wines. We had the tasting menu (along with paired wines) specially selected & prepared...for us by the executive chef. We were not disappointed at all! You have to have the tuna tartar--it is excellent. I could make a meal of it! We also had a sampling of the lobster/sea bass tartar, which were also excellent. They dio a great job with the scallops cooked in different ways. By that time, I lost track of the foods and got caught up in the wonderful wines...we had both Spanish and California reds. The service was excellent and the presentation beautiful. We will be back on our own! The place is great for large groups of friends that want to have fun. It is a raucous place where you do not have to worry about being "a bunch of loud Americans." Everyone is having fun eating and drinking!More

We were heading to a Michelin-star restaurant Pakta with my wifey, but for some reason they had a problem with our reservation, and we decided to drop by to next-door Espai Kru - and it’s really worth visiting! We had the best tuna tartar I’ve...ever tried and then a lobster/seabass tartar as starters, and then the scallops cooked in different ways: grilled and backed with onion. They were amazing! And then we had the “guest star” - a Catalonian-style lobster - needless to say it was perfect. The wine list was really impressive, both Spanish and international wines. My verdict - we’ll come back once we are in Barcelona again.More
