Historic bar-restaurant located in Barcelona at the end of the Ramblas and next to the statue of Columbus
He's over 150 years old and we're always gonna have breakfast or a cane. Always on the terrace and we see the attractive snacks they serve.
The service is perfect and the prices adjusted.

Had a few beers here and some tapas while waiting to get bk on board cruise ship. Food was nice and good portions sizes. This place is immaculate clean and toilets were a credit to this establishment. Definitely we would return the bill was around 30 Euro for 6 small beers and 3 lots of snack tapas.

After walking down La rambla street from start to finish, it became a place where we stop by for some relaxation and drinks. The view and ambience are beautiful. We tried the sangria and it was slightly sour, but we still liked it. Its only drawback is closing at 1900 hours. I think they might revise the time as there are no seating options in the street at the end.

We went as a group of 5 and had stopped for food & drink our gentleman server was very nice and helpful and the baguettes we had were nice as well as our beers however, the meal and experience was ruined by a lady who works there with tattoo & ponytail. We had watched her being quiet rude to other customers showing obvious anger towards them and as we went inside to ask if we could pay she was in very rude to one of our group and spoke to him like he stupid when actually he had asked such a simple question? She’s clearly quiet irritated when having to speak to & serve tourists which can sometimes understandably be frustrating but ultimately there’s no need to be so rude completely unprovoked I really hope she realises or her manager realises she’s clearly in the wrong industry and moves on - I would avoid this business as she completely ruined the experience for our group plus with the height of summer heading our way it’s a recipe for disaster and unhappy customers

Very pleasant restaurant with terrace at the end of Ramblas. Grandpa and grandma with 2 granddaughters ate delicious Caesar salad, sandwich (Bikini) and avocado and cheesecake,
Friendly service and cleanest toilet of all the establishments visited

In January 2023 we enjoyed a 10-night Western Mediterranean Cruise on the MSC Lirica sailing from Alicante (cost £420 each in January). The third stop was Barcelona and we caught the local shuttle bus for 4.50€ to the bus exchange / station. Whilst waiting for the open top tourist bus, we visited La Cava Universal Cafe.
We sat outside on the modern terrace which was immaculately clean. It was very busy with tourists enjoying tostadas and croissants with their coffee. The diners were in fits of laughter as a young heron (Egret) tried to outwit a determined waiter. The waiter would chase the bird away and then as soon as the waiter was out of sight the tame bird would return and pose for photographs.
The waiter who served us was friendly, professional and prompt. The coffee was made with good quality coffee beans. We would recommend this cafe because the drinks were reasonably priced, the cafe is in a nice location (close to the sea and La Rambla) and the staff were welcoming.

Avoid this awful place! We went in for a glass of wine, took ages to be served and finally got 2 tiny glasses, with a dribble of wine in them. Sipped these slowly to at least admire the view of La La Ramblas & the port, asked for our bill - which was twice as high as any other cafe we had visited. Gave them the money and, in the meantime, my wife went to the toilets. Only to be turned around by some sort of begging women they have installed on a chair outside the toilets, demanding money to use them. A large bowl of €1.00 coins in front of her enforced the point! I demanded the staff let my wife use the toilet without having to pay, we had just paid their extortionate bill for the wine!
I have NEVER seen any establishment demand their own customers pay to use the toilets! Talk about greed…

We stumbled into this historic establishment after a visit near the Columbus Statue. And, oh, what a find! Dining is available indoors and outdoors. The restaurant was busy, but seating was still open. Their menu has so much to offer, it's hard to stick with one item, but the grilled peppers, salads and seafood were just amazing.

Ordered drinks and two snacks. Drinks came after about ten minutes and we eagerly awaited the food. Twenty minutes later and with fellow customers that had arrived after us being served food I went inside to find our waiter on his break having completely forgotten our food order. Obviously couldnt sort the drinks and food order all in one go. Left straight away. Really prime location but that shouldn't mean poor service.

On a visit to see again las rambles during a heatwave in Spain recently we were
enticed into the outer area of this restaurant by the cooking smells and more
especially the cool lager prior to our shopping spree. A nicely located seated area
under the shade from a very hot sun, we ate our tapas and drank our litre glasses
of German lager entertained by a local street juggler who had a few mishaps with
his clubs but was warmly applauded anyway. A nice wee venue well worth a visit.

Highly recommended.
It perfectly combines modern market cuisine, design, good service without losing the essence of a restaurant managed by family from more than 100 years.
Without any doubt the best place to have a tapa, a good salad or an excellent coffee in Las Ramblas.
Its market cuisine with products of hight quality, well cookied and presented. The best reference is that people in the city who work, live or are regular in the neighborhood (like me) are regular customers.
Its terrace stands out for its excellent location, at the end of the Ramblas just before reaching the port

It was an amazing experience. Great service, even more wonderful food, the salads are to die for! It has a variety of choices including breakfast and lunch. Not so much for super unless you feel like pasta or salads.

We visited here after having a great experience the last time we were in Barcelona. I remember sitting outside laughing so hard as a very clever busker entertained us. How things have changed - not there are no buskers and Las Ramblas, especially this end is very quiet. Nothing stunning about La Cava International on any level.
