We live in Barcelona and finally wanted to try Bar del Pla. Friends had warned us about the service but we wanted to give it a go. Unfortunately they were right. We were treated in the most unfriendly and unwelcoming way. Food was decent, but...More

The place is a fancy tapas bar, so prices are higher than in a classic tapas bar, but the quality is high. The food is well prepared, the staff is attentive. Croquetas (all of them) are delicious, as well as the smoked sardines with mango.

My husband and I showed up around 8pm on a Thursday night and they had a packed house and full reservations ahead of them. So first and foremost, make a reservation to be safe. The person in charge of reservations must have seen our puppy...More

You'll find tapas all over Barcelona, but Bar del Pla is in a class by itself - suberb! Yes, there are the usual favorites like Iberico ham and potato wedges, and they are wonderful. But try the tuna and ask the friendly waiters about their...More

This is proper tapas in the El Born area of the Gothic Quarter. Set in beautiful old street with a vaulted ceiling. This is proper tapas, not some tourist trap. Make sure you book ahead to avoid disappointment. We visited as a family of 5....More

We were sent here by an acquaintance who lives in Barcelona. Bar del Plalooks like a hole-in-the-wall Tapas place. Nice décor, and phenomenal tapas. We tried anchovy and salmon, Catalan bread, Catalan crème, and several other dishes, all fantastic, with good prices. This is one...More

Recommended by our walking tour guide, his place is a few levels above the touristy tapas bars. Food is fresh, tasty, well cooked and not dear. Will be seeking it out again next time...

Bar del Pla is a cozy Catalan restaurant with a very friendly and mostly English-speaking staff. It is good for both seafood and Spanish styled meats - tasty but reasonably priced

Great service and great food. Trust the waiters recommendations. They are never wrong. The squid and ink croquettes are simply amazing. Nothing else to add!

A homey tapas place, different from the usual tapas on offer. Do not miss the chicken cannelloni with truffle oil, tuna tartare, beef cheeks in red wine, foie gras topped on an oxtail encased in samosa (signature dish), and ask for seasonal specialties not on...More

El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent
the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But
this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually
enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few
places that live and breathe such exciting energy
regardless of the time of day. This neighborhood
seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the
city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants

I'd recommend it especially if you want a table or decent bar seats. We turned up without but we're very early so managed to find 2 unreserved bar stools.
