World class restaurant - a gem in Barcelona

We have had some experience with top restaurants and Gelonch, although perhaps not as well-known, is definitely up there. We had the Killa degustation and it was wonderful. I really wanted to 'wow' this restaurant, as a chef running a small 'fusion' restaurant deserves supporting, but our meal fell short of the standard that I am sure the chef aspires to. We took the short (5 course) tasting menu; a wonderful start with the jicama taco, followed by the rabbit roll, which was good but the filling was... More

We had the 5 item tasting menu. Each dish was well conceived, beautiful to look at, lovely combination of textures and flavors. Simply a pleasure. Also, we asked for wine pairings. Again, these were affordable and exceptional. Compared with many prix fix menus of this ilk, it is a great bargain for an artful and truly delicious meal.

Visited this restaurant for dinner and took the tasting menu, it was excellent. The restaurant is small and basic but the lady serving does a great job of making you feel welcome. I recommend anyone who likes good food with no big show to definitely visit this place.

Wow - best food we had in Barcelona - opted for tapas rather than more pricey tasting menu. Our group of six really enjoyed all the tastes and presentation. Made a ressie earlier that night. Enjoyed cod tacos, pork belly w cuddle fish, rabbit rolls, pork rinds w avocado, butterfish to name a few

We just enjoyed the 12 course "Killa" tasting menu. Every dish was superb--prepared perfectly, presented nicely without being ostentatious. The food drew on primarily Peruvian and Catalunyan influences, with a bit of Asian sensibility thrown in. The dishes were light in composition but entirely satisfying. Every plate made us smile! The service was excellent as well. Enjoy!

There are so many great places to eat in Barcelona that it's hard to scratch the surface over a long weekend. We did some pretty extensive research before visiting and the name Gelonch kept cropping up. The interesting thing every review said was how understated this place was and how popular it is with the locals. I was hooked and... More

We're not foodies. We just love great food We had the eight course sampler. Only one course was average. The rest amazing. The ambience charm has a quaint quiet setting. We highly, highly recommend this restaurant.

My husband and I just returned from the most incredible meal at gelonch. We had the full tasting menu and each dish from start to finish was absolutely sublime. The chef is so talented with his fusion menu and we were very impressed with his range in all aspects of the meal, including some very tasty desserts. We felt like... More

Staying in Eixample

Neighborhood Profile
Eixample
Passing through the glorious Plaça Catalunya, you enter the newer city district of Eixample, literally translated as “extension,” which immediately becomes recognizable by its more spacious streets and elegant atmosphere. The main artery of this sizable district, Passeig de Gracia, is lined with high-end international designer stores. Not to be outdone, the glitz and glamour of this zone is perhaps best exemplified by the comfortable and lavish five-star hotels that flank the divine and modernistic buildings from some of the world’s most recognized architects such as Gaudi and Montaner.
