Really enjoyed our family meal here after a slightly shaky start when we thought we'd been abandoned while waiting in the bar for a table (there was a dispute among the waiters about who'd bagged the next table to be freed up) . We had some excellent tapas including octopus and a novel take on the usual Catalan bread, and... More

Stopped here for dessert after a lacklustre dinner elsewhere. The cakes on display were a beauty to behold! Had a hard time choosing just one. So tasty and decadent!!!

I'm a cake lover, and the one of Fava Tonka is just amazing, all that you can try in there will be great. They also serve coffees and they have a bar with snacks and sandwiches next to the bakery.

This is my most favourite patisserie in the world. Fantastic place. You will be spoilt for choice firstly , all deserts are displayed liked jewels with beautiful packaging. The location of this cafe is beautiful , right outside the basilica Santa Maria. You could just pick a desert and eat by the steps of the church. My friends and I had... More

We stopped for coffee and croissants. The plain ones were some of the butteriest, flakiest I've ever had and the almond ones were sweet and plump with a great balance between the paste, icing and pastry. However, they're better known for their cakes. You can see why from the photos. Judging by the sighs of contentment from the customers who... More

Cooler than the other side of the pillow. This is chocolate and patteserie as modern art. It's a small, I was going to say shop, it isn't, it's a gallery, a small gallery, just across the square and to one side from the main door of Santa Maria del Mar church. The displays and arrangements of goodies are small in... More

The Bubo bar is Tucked just outside the Santa Maria church and between a few other bars, in a bit of a picturesque tourist trap. The food seemed a bit pricey compared with other places, 20 Euros each for a fixed tapas menu which was quite tasty and included a glass of Sangria and a sugar sweet dessert which is... More

Sells amazing desserts and chocolates. Chocolates come in lots of flavours and fillings eg raspberry and dark chocolate. Desserts are INCREDIBLE, especially when served with a glass of cold cava! :)

We passed this place while on a walking tour, so we made a note to find our way back. One day we stopped in to get a couple of things to bring back to the hotel room. Wow, what a beautiful selection of baked goods; mini works of art! The two things we got we decadently delicious. Definitely worth at... More

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighborhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighborhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
