There are several restaurants in this area around the Museum of Catalonian history - which is in a beautifully restored old warehouse. We visited Magatzem for coffee mid-afternoon and ended up eating their delicious chocolate brownies (with ice-cream). We decided to go for dinner and were not disappointed. Everything was cooked freshly to order and the service was excellent: relaxed,... More

I'll start with a positive, the food ( what little you actually get ) wasn't terrible and service was good. The bad part is this isn't value for money and we felt as though we had been ripped off for the food we had. As part of our starter We ordered one portion of anchovies to find when billed that... To be honest we found this place on accident we were going to 7 portes (go check out that review) but the wait was to long so we stumbled upon this place. The guy who served was really nice and took care of us. The food was really good. We tried the Patatas bravas which came with a spicy sauce... More

Nice place with outdoor sitting. Compared to all other tourist traps this is actually very good. Service was ok but the things we ordered where really top. Ok prices are adjusted to location but thats unavoidable.

We had a very pleasant late lunch here, very fresh fish, pleasant service and not particularly overpriced. Definitely recommend if visiting Barceloneta.

One lovely Saturday afternoon in Barcelona we were asked to meet friends at Magatzem for a late lunch. We were fortunately introduced to the true way of dining here - plate after plate after plate of mussels, octopus, fresh tuna belly, tomato bread, calamari, paella, and more were graciously placed in front of us by terrific servers. The few locals... More

This is one of many such establishments populating the Barcelona Tourist Trail. It offers quite acceptable light eats mainly. The problem however, is competing in a massively over populated catering area namely Tapas where there is seemingly a limited range of dishes, which are churned out by literally hundreds of the city's eateries. It makes it very difficult for a... More

Staying in Barceloneta

Neighborhood Profile
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
