This tapas bar is situated in an old covered market that's a tourist Mecca in Barcelona. It's just off the mad crush of people that is the Ramblas. It's tucked in the middle of the market, which is always bursting at the seams with tourists, at least during the summer months. But what might sound like a living hell, it's... More

El Quim is a must if you are in the area. We have been here a few times now and it is consistently great. The staff are super friendly and always smiling and joking and the food is delicious. Even though it's in a very touristy market and area of town, El Quim offers fantastic authentic cuisine in a unique... More

The food was so good and decently priced! What was even better was seeing how the family work together. Totally recommend it for a true tapas experience in Barcelona!

An amazing find in the middle of the bustling Mercado de la Boqueria. It's tiny and only has a few seats at the counter, but there were 6 guys in the tiny kitchen area serving delicious fine dining food & tapas - almost like street theatre, especially when they use Cava for the cooking and the flames shot up to... I heard about this place from Andrew Zimmern's TV show Bizarre Foods. It's in the middle of the La Boqueria market but don't let that deter you. Seating is: you find an empty seat and grab it. The menu/order form is on one sheet of paper. You pick the food and drink you want, shade the circle next to the... More

I had read about El Quim on this site and others. I had a great breakfast and have rung my daughter who is still in Barcelona to say that she has to visit. A real Spanish Experience.

We went to El Quim de la Boqueria after seeing it featured on 'I'll have what Phil's having' and it didn't disappoint. You have to stand and fight for a stool at this bar in the middle of the market. But after you are seated, get ready for some of the best food you've ever eaten. We had the garlic... More

Wow!!! I do recommend going early and you may have to do a line to have a stool buy it is totally worth it. My mom is a chef and she was amazed by the place, the seasoning was perfect. Totally recommended it. The house specialty is the little octopus with fried egg.

Based on the recommendation of a friend who lived in Barcelona, we decided to eat here for lunch one day. Located in the middle of the Boqueria Market, the place is packed, with a constant stream of people waiting for seats at the counter. The food is cooked there in front of the patrons, served fast and furious by a... More

Staying in El Raval

Neighborhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
