We were encouraged by the three wheeler scooter guys to go to Salamanca as it seems they serve the best seafood in Barcelona. I think they get commission so it gets a bit hyped. The food was okay (food is generally nice in most restaurants in Barcelona so this was nothing outstanding). However, what annoyed me is that the waiters don’t help to order the correct portions and we ended up with food that we couldn’t finish. We had a large sea food platter, a spaghetti and then we wanted one paella to share. They brought two paella in a large pan so we it didn’t know it was two. We ended up wasting the food. We also got charged for the bread that we didn’t order. They just brought bread to the table so we thought it was complimentary. The restaurant needs to train the waiters in guiding the customers to order correct quantity which is what is lacking.

Very nice restaurant, close to the beach. Service is ok, many tables and no need of reservation for 2-4 persons. Paella was very Good, fresh seawater food. Prices are ok, normal. Tomato bread as a starter comes automatically, if you eat it, you have to pay it;-) actually, the bread was hard and not tasty, tomatoes on it very cold and boring.

The restaurant has a great view to the beach, the white wine was cold, the Paella was OK and the service was great. However, the octopus was too salty, the bread was somewhat basic and not expected at normal Spanish standards, worst olives I've ever tried in my life and the place is over crowded. I wouldn't spend my time and money in a place like this in my next visit to Barcelona. I'm sure there are a lot of other places to visit.

Popped in here for a lunchtime bite. The food was generally greasy or past it’s best. I wouldn’t recommend this place as there are much much better in Barcelona. In addition the service was rushed and the waiter made a pint of strong that service wasn’t included in the bill (which is over priced for the low quality). This has to be one of the low points over the various years for a meal. Best avoided.

We were seated at the impro table regardless we made a reservation, the chairs were filthy, full of greasy stains and food residues. We ordered a paella and a mixed grilled fish plate. The seafood was overdone and cold, but the highlight of the day was paella: dry, old, looking green, like some scraps from other guests or leftovers. They didn't charge us for the paella and gave us some free sorbet, but the bad feeling stayed. A professional cook and waiter should never let for such food left the kitchen and be served to the guest.

Specifically wanted Paella. Our hotel recommended and booked for us. A warm welcome but asked for the table in the corner after offered a table on the middle of the room. It’s was hastily cleared and only half reset including dirty cutlery and napkin. We were offered a bottle of cava “on the house” but declined cause we don’t drink sparkling wine. Some sliced sausage and bread was put on the table, unsolicited, but charged for in the end. We had a fabulous bottle of Rioja and ordered the paella. Alas, it looked like it had been under the heating lights for an hour or two. I would have been embarrassed to serve it myself. It was crusty around the edges and the big prawns on the top were dry and looked days old. The waiter dished for us but managed to spill half the contents on the table, poor guy. It wasn’t going well. We were given some delicious almond cake on the house with a dubious herb drink after dinner, but not offered dessert. To be honest I didn’t want to tempt another disappointment, so paid the bill and left. Very old and uncomfortable chairs, but the solicitous waitrons alas don’t make up for some very overpriced, stale, greasy food.

Try somewhere else
Rude staff just pushing for tips. Stood around watching tv on their mobile phones ignoring your requests for food. In particular a short dark haired waiter. Appeared to boss the other staff around but was useless at his job. Literally harassed us for a tip but the service was appalling. We had one person serving us then he appeared to be taken away and this rude man took over. Almost like he had to ensure he was there for the bill paying. Food was tough, lack of seafood in the paella, other tables got given what looked like complimentary items as shots and cake at the end of their meal. We didn’t get anything. Mussels burnt and paella overcooked.

By the beach, Simple Restaurant, located in La Barceloneta….. Best Paella and octopus in town so far, service is slow but people are joyful and helpful.
Portions are BIG, you end up over ordering: a meal of two starters and a paella is impossible to finish for a couple…. Prices are fair…
Squids, Pescaditos, olives, bread were all fresh and tasty…. They served us free digestive shots and desert… If you are a foodie who cares more about taste then you should try it….

It's a restaurant with a lot of tradition. But today we were very disappointed. Food for three people. Five small glasses of beer, one bottle of white wine (perro verde), one ration of squid (calamares a la andaluza), one ration of octopus (pulpo a feira) , three rice ( paella de arroz tintado), three coffees and three small glasses of whiskey .... 206,10 €.... . The food is good, but isn't that price justified. I'm not coming back.

So many people recommended this restaurant—including locals. But I don’t think they’ve eaten here. Food is mediocre but the worst part are the very aggressive waiters who ask for a tip even though the check clearly states that service is included and there is no need to tip. Ours argued with us when we pointed out that the service was included and then he added 10% to the card machine. We paid it because we just wanted to get out of there. Service, by the way, was below average. We’ve been traveling around Spain for two weeks and this is the first time we’ve encountered this. This place is clearly for the tourists so I’d try someplace else.

This was my favorite restaurant in Barcelona! The seafood paella was very good (and they serve it for just one person, a lot of places have a 2 person minimum on the order). The waiter also brought me little samples of appetizers and a dessert, which was so sweet. Definitely recommend :)

We were there Feb 1st 2022 for dinner with the family. We were surprised by the old soaky bread and dry ham and sausage we were offered as a complimentary welcome. We decided not to take it serious and ordered seafood starters, paella, and monkfish. It tasted acceptable, not fresh, and not done with care. Today three of us have a bad feeling in the stomach. One of us is sick and throwing up. We should have left after we got the soaky bread and old meat (which we did not touch). Stay away.

We visited the restaurant for dinner , with 1 kid and ordered among others the tomato bread, and a child menu of spaghetti with red sauce.
The service seemed difficult for the waiter, as if the restaurant was full (there were 6 occupied tables in total on the big terrace and he gad 3 other waiters with him on service) , the tomato bread seemed hard and had no taste at all (I saw it's not the first review on the point and allthough they acknowledged this issue, nothing improved). The spaghetti plate was full of pasta with so little sauce on top of it, that you'd say our daughter ate plain boiled spaghetti.
My husband liked the paella he ordered, so that's the only positive point we have on this restaurant.
Ok for 1 visit but I would definitely not recommend it further to someone else.

Good food overall, we ate the black paella with seafood which was delicious, and scallops.
Tomato bread was very dry and boring though.
The place was very busy, high stress and very loud. The waiter seemed stressed and barely seemed to care about servicing us. Didn’t even bother to answer us when we told that the paella was very good.
In the end when showing us the bill he pointed to the price stating “this is not including tip, how much do you want to tip?” We said we wanted to pay the stated price to which he responded “no service?”.
Very unprofessional since even their own receipt says that tip is optional and included in the price. Left a bad taste of this restaurant…

We were passing by the outside tables in the sidewalk and a staff guy invited us to take a seat. As we were hungry, we came and accepted the offer.
Bread and olives were served. I said that we didn't order it, and the lady insisted it was a "servicio de mesa" like we were obligated to have it.
The two fideuĂ s we've ordered took so long to be served, that I've tried the bread we didn't want, which was still on the table.
Depressing surprise...it was a dry chewing gum not possible to swallow.
I said the waitress I was thankful for the appetizer offer, but it was not possible to eat. She took it away.
After some time the two fideuĂ s arrived with no alioli, it's traditional complement.
Only the third time I ordered it, my request was attended.
Don't go to Barcelona restaurants without reading reviews before. Differently from other Spanish cities where you can eat good food anywhere.
The bread not ordered and not eaten obviously was charged 3.90€

Barceloneta
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
