A nice, simple establishment focusing on great fresh seafood. We loved everything we had! The only small point of constructive criticism is that the bathroom should be enlarged, it is smaller than on a plane now;)

We have eaten in this restaurant 3 or 4 times now. The seafood is faultless, great ambience and well run with professional and friendly staff. So why lose 2 stars? I was given my starter almost as quickly as I ordered it, my main came...before I had finished it and the bill came with the desserts. Basically I felt rushed the whole time and that they wanted to turn over the table really quickly. We were there 1 hour 20 in the end but only because we made a point of finishing the wine we had paid for. I understand there were other people waiting outside but that is the the business model (no reservations).More

Had a wonderful seafood lunch at the day we left Santander. It was a Saturday noon, so this family ran restaurant was soon full of local families. Love the food and atmosphere.

If you love seafood then I totally recommend this restaurant. It doesn’t take bookings but we arrived around 8pm when it opened and got a table easily. So many options on the menu, great atmosphere and good wine.

I am not sure that they need reviews because it was nearly full when we arrived at their opening time at 8pm But the service is a delight, the food is outstanding. We had Boquerones Frito and they were delicious. Then Clams which was also...so but the Hake Plancha was just perfection. I cook and I know how hard it is to get Hake to that exact point and they do. It was an utter delight.More

If when in Rome, you do as Romans do; when in Santander eat at Marucho. Traditional restaurant with high quality fresh food in simple yet delicious preparations, full of local clientele. I had wonderful tomato salad, calamari (rabas) and fried anchovies (bocartes). You can ask...for half portions. Good wine selection and super friendly staff. Small and a bit noisy, but definitely worth the visit.More

1. Simply decorated tiny restaurant with no reservation and it’s understandable since there’s not much space. Go at a time where you can get seated and enjoy real fresh seafood accompanied with a very personal and attentive staff. 2. Pastel de Cabracho highly recommended. Listen...to the waiters/maître suggestions because you may think serving sizes aren’t enough but they are the right portions sizes. 3. Almejas a la marinera made with a delicate touch where you can taste the different flavors among the white wine, fine chopped onion, parsley, garlic. Their reduction is simply amazing. 4. The fish, Rodaballo and Merluza of excellent quality. Cooked and boned with exquisite style and technique on your plate. 5. Homemade desserts to end a perfect lunch. Final verdict: Go because is the only way you’ll find you why is considered an institution in the hospitality field in the city of Santander.More

Casual dining the way it is supposed to be. Locals favourite with a smattering of tourists. Staff are excellent and didnt mock my pigeon Spanish but gently proferred the English menu. Wine list is stuff of legend. Portion size is large and quality is excellent....John Dory amazing. Get on the right side of Roberto, who was possibly the best waiter I have experienced in Spain, and you will be babbling on about the experience for weeks. Oh and he is seafood wrangler as well. An absolute must whilst in Santander but don’t tell too many people as they dont take reservations.....More

Wonderful food. This was early in our trip, so on our first attempt we were unprepared for the hour-long wait when we arrived 1/2 hour after they opened for dinner. (It was a weekend; We ate a fine meal a few doors down that night)....We made sure to arrive exactly at opening time on Monday for mid-day meal, (Note: Spanish eat their major meal of the day about 1-3pm) and got the next-toast available table! We had been informed about "Menu del Dia" so asked for that... wonderful, crusty bread, a delicious seafood soup, a bottle of white wine, a large plateful of calamari "Nero" (cooked and incredibly tender in its own ink) and rice, plus a choice of flan or cheesecake for dessert. Absolutely heavenly - cheesecake was light yet rich and full of flavor. I saw others happily enjoying paella - and a plate of roasted red peppers, crossed with fresh anchovies and green olives was delivered nearby - making me wish I could possibly hold more food. We'd also ordered the fried calamari (lightly breaded and perfectly tender), but ended up taking those back to our room to enjoy for a late evening meal after our long afternoon walking excursion. If it hadn't been our last day in Santander...More
