Fabulous. The very best sea food. Perhaps a bit pricey but worth it. The real deal delicious sea food.
Went to this restaurant twice during our stay in Santander.we were very impressed by the food served there since everything was fresh and very tasty.Staff working there were very friendly and the portions of the food were generous Really recommend this place if you are...in Santander and want to try fresh fish Prices were normal while you also have the option to order a menu for 18 euros which was exceptionally goodMore
Had a superb meal at Marucho. The service was fantastic with friendly service and really helpful in choosing dishes. We had the fish soup and fried calamari followed by seabream, hake cheek and clams and king prawns. All was fresh seafood done exceptionally well. We...would definitely recommend this restaurant.More
If when in Rome, you do as Romans do; when in Santander eat at Marucho. Traditional restaurant with high quality fresh food in simple yet delicious preparations, full of local clientele. I had wonderful tomato salad, calamari (rabas) and fried anchovies (bocartes). You can ask...for half portions. Good wine selection and super friendly staff. Small and a bit noisy, but definitely worth the visit.More
1. Simply decorated tiny restaurant with no reservation and it’s understandable since there’s not much space. Go at a time where you can get seated and enjoy real fresh seafood accompanied with a very personal and attentive staff. 2. Pastel de Cabracho highly recommended. Listen...to the waiters/maître suggestions because you may think serving sizes aren’t enough but they are the right portions sizes. 3. Almejas a la marinera made with a delicate touch where you can taste the different flavors among the white wine, fine chopped onion, parsley, garlic. Their reduction is simply amazing. 4. The fish, Rodaballo and Merluza of excellent quality. Cooked and boned with exquisite style and technique on your plate. 5. Homemade desserts to end a perfect lunch. Final verdict: Go because is the only way you’ll find you why is considered an institution in the hospitality field in the city of Santander.More
Casual dining the way it is supposed to be. Locals favourite with a smattering of tourists. Staff are excellent and didnt mock my pigeon Spanish but gently proferred the English menu. Wine list is stuff of legend. Portion size is large and quality is excellent....John Dory amazing. Get on the right side of Roberto, who was possibly the best waiter I have experienced in Spain, and you will be babbling on about the experience for weeks. Oh and he is seafood wrangler as well. An absolute must whilst in Santander but don’t tell too many people as they dont take reservations.....More
At the moment we stepped at the door we knew we have chosen the right place for sea food. The place transmits it immediately. Looks like a family simple dining room with simple table covered with papers napkins which creates a cosy atmosphere. The menu...got everything you can dream about when sea food is concerned but my recommendation is to concentrate on local products and not imported one. The service was simply one of the most efficient I have ever seen, everything we asked for came to the table fast, sometimes event too fast... Conclusion: Would love to repeat. As for the prices, sea food is never cheap so they are all similar in the region.More
What a great find! Used previous reviews to guide us and we weren't disappointed. Luck to get a table as this proved to be a popular restaurant with locals. €83 got us bread, starter of fried battered anchovy (to share), mains of 1) turbot and...2) hake with hake cheeks and clams, dessert of lemon mousse (to share), bottle of Albarino and two coffees. Atmosphere is friendly, frenetic and no-nonsense. Loved it!More
Just the best and freshest fish and seafood. The team remembered us each time we went back - anchovies, clams, fresh crab and more. Great wine and very reasonable prices. You may have to wait for a table with a glass of wine!
We arrived late to our hotel in Santander after driving from Asturias and we were hungry and tired. Our hotel recommended this restaurant to us. We arrived and it was packed. Luckily grabbed the last table and what a delight. Delicious clams to start then...the largest dover sole in the world to share. All with a fantastic bottle of house white wine. We still talk about it now. The staff were excellent even recommending somewhere to go for cocktails after dinner. A great suggestion too.We were only in Santander for one night but already dream of going back just so we can eat at Marucho again.More
We first visited this restaurant about 4 years ago and it was fabulous. We found ourselves back in Santander yesterday with friends and wanted a nice lunch spot so returned and it was even better. The friendly and helpful staff guided our choices very well....I don’t usually enjoy cooked tuna but the dish we started with, tuna with almond sauce was a revelation. Our fresh prawns were delicious and the huge spider crab finale an absolute triumph. We enjoyed an excellent bottle of Albariño with it all.More
We come here every time we are in Santander - which is about once a month. My kids love the pastel de cabracho, las necoras, and the merluza. Excellent service and great quality seafood. I would highly recommend this place. Best in Santander!
We went recommended by the owner of our apartment and didn't deceive us. Magnificent and really fresh seafood. They let you know the prices of a kilo so no surprises at the bill but no cheap as you have to pay the quality. They also...offer a menu del dia very tasty and big portions. Waiters really implicated to give you a good service.More
What a gem, everything we had was outstanding. “Almejas frescas)gran clams)” superb, “Sopa de mariscos(seafood soup)” a dream, finishing with “Langostinos a la plancha(grilled prawns)” unforgettable; paired with good wine. We closed with a house made fig ice cream and lastly a sip of orujo....You will not find fresher seafood in the area.More
