Had a meal at El Serbal on friday 24 th june . Situation great managed to get a fantastic table in the window overlooking the beach. We went for the tasting menu with wine pairing . Service and food was excellent we enjoyed every course...and the wine choices were fine .both our waitresses were very attentive without being overbearing and we didnt feel rushed at all . The chef came over at the end of our meal to say hello . In all a great experience for a special occasionMore

We opted for the tasting menu with local wine flight. We were not disappointed. A glass of cava met us on arrival with a choice of delicious breads. The staff were very attentive. We were lucky to get a table looking out over the sea...- fantastic. Every course was a delight. The staff explained each course (even though our Spanish is limited their English is much better!). Every course was fabulous. The individual starters and sea bass dishes probably our favourites but all were excellent. The only criticism would be that the two dessert dishes were quite similar (ice cream based) but we're both beautiful nonetheless. Not a cheap meal but excellent value for money .More

Had dinner here at the end of March 2022 and opted for "small" tasting menu. Staff were very helpful and provided a lot of information on each course. Everything was delicious and very well cooked. We also had the wine pairing and enjoyed this too...and felt it was a good match with the food.More

Perfectly located on the beach with unobstructed water views. I usually hate restaurants near the water because I feel that you are paying for the view and the food comes second, well this place proved me wrong! They do have three tasting menu’s and you...can also order A la Carte. We chose the nine course menu that was delicious all the way (82€) no complaints on any of the dishes and the fish course was particularly impressive. The service was perfect, very detailed and attentive without being pretentious or overwhelming. The only negative for me was the wine pairing (28€) for 7 glasses which sounds like great value but ends up being underwhelming. Subpar wines that detract from the brilliance of the food. Order from the wine list and enjoy your food.More

Very very poor experience of what was supposed to be a Michelin star restaurant. I would give it a 2 out of 10. Arrival: no drink offered, my wife arrived earlier than myself at the restaurant. She needed to wave to the waitress after waiting...for 20 minutes to ask for a drink. The restaurant site says kitchen closes at 4 PM. When I arrived at 15:45, the menu was not possible anymore. Ok, I thought I arrived at 15:45 instead of 15:30, however my wife arrived before 15:30 and she wasn’t offered anything either. We ordered a la Carte. From the first moment we arrived until the very last moment we left, we didn’t feel welcome. I was poring my own drinks at the table, no one came by at the table asking if we needed anything. I ordered a cheese platter, no explanation at all about what was on my plate. Then ready for the bill: the very unkind and rude waitress was not willing to take any feedback we gave her on our experience. According to her, it is normal that you wait with offering someone a welcome drink until everybody sits at the table and it is normal that you take care of yourself at the table and no explanation is given at the cheese platter. Not even mentioning anything here about the service we received while sitting here as guests. My wife, son and myself are very gastronomic and we travel the world eating at 1, 2, 3 Michelin star restaurants. We know what we can and cannot expect. It is all about making your guests feel at home and treating people with dignity and respect. Something the staff of El Serbal restaurant needs to learn still. If you are in Santander, please visit Sergio and avoid this place .More

Amazing food and amazing service. Combination between fish and meat was ideal and the balance between quantity for a dinner was perfect. A must visit if you are a foodie and are visiting Santander.

The New El Serbal is located on the famous Sardinero Beach outside Santander. Location is fantastic. Both inside and outside. We had the small tasting menu. Everything was perfect. We loved it. Will be back as soon as possible.

We went for lunch following a hospital appointment, seeking a main course. We had a glass of Cava to start .An ammous bouche was served followed by our chosen monkfish main. The fish was very well cooked. We were the only people in the restaurant...the whole time we were there . It felt quite sad. The food was certainly very good, the decor of the restaurant was very good but the overall impression was not great, mainly because of the lack of atmosphere. Not like a Spanish restaurant at all. There is no shortage of good restaurants in Santander and there was nothing special to draw me back to this one.More

As few words as possible: Tired, no energy, food not worth mentioning, service absent, $2 buck chuck equivalents poured for pairing flight, room out of the early 90s. What were the Michelin reviewers smoking before they went in and gave this place a star? Must...have been a gift of some sort. Waste of time, money and research for a food trip to northern Spain. Stay and eat at the hotel lobby bar, it will be better.More

Our second visit to El Serbal, after a gap of a few years. Delighted to find the cooking is still very high quality, and the degustation menu with wines accompanying each course was superb, and also very good value. Our visit was considerably enhanced by...one of the staff, Yvette, who not only had great charm and immaculate English, but talked us through both the food and wines in some detail, and her knowledge enhanced what was in any case a really delightful lunch. We will certainly return in the future.More

Very light cooking. The Menu´s best dishes are the Turbot in a cream of maize, and the Cantabrian cheese ice-cream with strawberry. But some dishes lack taste. A good point of the option of wines accompanying the menu, is that for every dish there is...a different wine : quite rare. Also rare, are its wines from Cantabria. On the other hand, don´t know why they serve a Porto at the end when there so many Spanish wines of similar type. The dining room is uninteresting and lacks intimacy. The service is informative and willing. But tends to spoil it all by its excessive omnipresence. The waiter seems to expect a running commentary from the guests on every dish or sip of wine. Good of them to get feedback, but can we have a bit of peace and quiet to enjoy the meal please ! And also very stiff and tense, bowing before addressing the customer, and appears to want blessing before every time he puts down or takes up a fork or such like. Curtesy is appreciated, but we´re here to relax ! Not wholly sure it deserves its Michelin rosette.More

Was not disappointed and agree with all previous reviews. Family of 4 and they catered well for our youngest child by substituting the dishes she would not have enjoyed on the taster menu. Loved the fact extras were given that was just included in the...price. Spot on!More

Excellent wines were served. The pork chin with Cantonese sauce was great. The Iberian pork loin charcoal grilled outstanding. Wasn’t blown away by the cod but the hake was in its simplicity beautiful....

Booked long in advance based on reviews. I have to say I agree with most reviewers, this is a splendid place with very attentive service, comfortable surroundings and excellent imaginative dishes. Highly recommended.

This is a high quality restaurant serving top of the range food; arguably more of a gastronomic experience. It is located close by La Mulata (see separate review). We didn't make a reservation, but had walked past earlier in the day and were assured one...was not needed for a weekday. We chose the 4 course tasting menu with wine. To start we were offered an anchovy amuse-bouche that was surprisingly fresh and delicious. Both main courses were fabulous; for me the pork was outstanding; one of the most tender dishes tasted. The wines complimented the food well although I felt were less interesting. Service and attention to detail was top-notch. For a dining 'experience' this is hard to beat.More
