Great little seafood restaurant filled with locals and tourists alike creating a wonderful atmosphere. The seafood was fresh and flavoursome with all the things you would expect from this part of Spain on the menu. Good food, good wine at good prices I have no problem recommending.

Callede here on our way to San Sebastian. Lovely setting and a classic seafood restaurant. First course was fried peppers which were lovely. Followed by a main couse of seafood paella which was excellent and full of fresh fish. Only drawback was the lenth of time it took to get drinks, beer then coffee - gave up on the water... More

It is refreshing to stumble onto a restaurant that really goes out of their way to provide foreigners excellent service. This little seafood restaurant is a gem. Other reviewer do complain about the pricing, but unfortunately- a fresh seafood meal anywhere in the world is not inexpensive. Besides the wine prices for the quality is amazing. Well worth you visit.

What a shame, lovely ambiance, super waiter but the food today was the worst I have had in 23 years living in the iberian peninsular. In the sixties when we began to cook with pulses we made stodgy tasteless dishes. I ordered white beans with seafood with snuff, calimari and mussells, the waiter said there were only red beans instead... More

Upstairs at El Machi is a rustic restaurant run by a lovely lady. Their menu is being updated and is currently only in Spanish but as they still had their old one in English I'm sure this will be replaced soon. The fresh fish of the day are all explained and simple starters are suggested. We just shared the salted... More

We ordered not being limited by the prices and at the end the total sum was quite higher than expected... and we think that deserved!! Good quality, good service and ambient; but at this level some other options in town are definitely better. A second chance is needed!!

As we stayed a block away, and had passed the restaurant several times, on our way to lunch on our second in Santander, we walked past it. I had a feeling that it had achieved critical mass, signaling that it would merit a second look. As we returned, we noticed that it was populated by locals of our age. We... More
