If your ferry is late....

...then look up this great restaurant as we did on the recommendation of a local who took pity on us looking lost. As well as superb food the ambience and service matches it....wonderfully painted wine barrel tops on the walls, beamed ceilings, very busy tapas section. I'm sure that booking would... read more

The fish soup appetizer is delicious, with tons of succulent fish inside. Excellent service and a gorgeous room. The tuna main is served without vegetables, so we ordered a side mixed salad for 7 euros which really improved the main. The appetizer ham was a little disappointing. Still, this was a great experience. On the expensive side for Santander (100... More

I usually take foreign people to this restaurant mainly because three main things. The atmosphere is incredible, it is very nice with lot of barrels painted very pleasant staff. The food is very good, either fish or meat, the starters and the homemade deserts. Finally is the perfect place for those who love wine. I've never got any complain from... More

My wife and I popped in during a recent visit to Santander and loved the place. On arrival we had only considered having a glass of wine but on seeing the dinning room we asked about the possibility of having a table for lunch but we were informed that they were fully booked. We then sat in the main bar... More

This restaurant is centrally located and the staff are very helpful. We dined here twice during our seven day trip and the food was very good. Although the restaurant is more famous for its meat dishes, the fish dishes were fantastic. The red wine was very reasonably priced at €15 for a good bottle. They also have a waiter who... More

We were a party of three hoping for a special experience of local food and this restaurant was recommended by the hotel where we were staying. We booked the first time slot of the evening 7.30 pm but even so, along with several other were kept waiting in the street until well after that. After a confused but pleasant welcome... More

Located near the old town centre, La Bodega provides an atmospheric option set essentially in a wine barrel room with options for either larger more central tables or more intimate tables around the periphery. The food, service and advice on wine selection was all excellent - recommended.

We were lucky enough to be taken here by local friends. What fantastic food quality in a great atmosphere with benches amidst old barrels. Only the slowish service detracted from an overall perfect experience.

Wonderful atmosphere, great tapas. We were two couples at the bar tables; had the greatest grilled squid you can imagine, nothing fancy just great tasting. The snails Rioja style were also very tasty although quite small. Had a fine bottle of red Rioja wine with some other local tapas. The staff was very friendly; I highly recommend this restaurant in... More

The establishment doesn't look much from the outside but opens up in-side into a very interesting very old wine cellar. A good sign is there were lots of local families dinning and the place is full of character. The food was excellent and very traditional if a bit expensive.
