Went after seeing decent reviews though this was probably at the bottom of the 6 or so restaurants we visited during our stay in Santa Cruz. Pros: nice music, very nice tuna dish (although too salty). Cons: calamari worst ive tasted for a long time (too much batter and over cooked), potatoes also too salty, not especially "local" feel. Mostly... More

Short and sweet; we waiting, ignored for a table for nearly 30 mins, constantly having to push the waiters. Table in dark and ugly alleyway. Then we waited for another 30 mins for drinks and menus. Then another 30 mins for food. Food was sloppy and poor, beige in look and flavour. Rustic it may be but that's no excuse... More

We've been at La Hierbita twice with my wife during our stay in Santa Cruz. Food and service was really amazing and the prices are really good. Place is located in heart of Santa Cruz, about 1 minute from main tourist path. However it's in a nice and calm street without crouds of people walking by. We highly recommend fillete... More

This is the second time that we have eaten at this restaurant (having visited three years previously) and we were keen to return because it isn't easy finding good Canarian food, at a reasonable price, in such a beautiful building and with friendly service. For me, this is a must in Santa Cruz.

I'm sorry to say, I went once on my own and sat outside and was ok, returned another time wiht an out of town visitor and were treated as if we were a giant inconvenience for being there, rushed to the point of stressing to eat fast enough, contsantly being watched and questioned by the waiter and essentially pressured into... I have been to this restaurant many times now and never disappoints, good food, in busy restaurant frequented by locals as well, old canarian house in a back street off the main high street of Calle Castillo, worth a visit if you are in Santa Cruz

Did wee bit of prawns and about ten litres of gin and tonic. Very cosy place with great atmosphere, can sit outside and watch the little world go by. Food is absolutely gorgeous.

asking for advices to passersby - I hadn't check on tripadvisor in advance - all natives recommended this tavern located in a small and dark alley instead of many other modern and trendy restaurants You can see on the main streets. They were right. Good service without frills, good food and generous portions

This was our first experience with Canarian food and were fortunate enough to come across very tasty introduction with waiters willing to explain not only the various dishes but how they were made. Well worth visiting.
