Attended the restaurant on our first night in La Caleta, and so pleased we did... everything else for the rest of the week will have to be special to beat this! After pre-booking (recommend you do, to save disappointment). We were greeted by the lovely and professional Sophia, who took us to our table. The menu isn't too large or confusing with too many dishes. But there is something for everyone and every taste. I ordered the Iberian Pork Cheeks on a perfect bed of mash, beautiful! Two others in our party decided to share the Chateaubriand, medium rare, ... it was cooked to perfection and presented and served by our waitress (ano Sophia, must be something in the name) she too was very attenatative and professional. The steak just melted in your mouth. The wine list is also comprehensive and has wines to suit all pallets, and we finished our meals after a lovely chocolate brownie with a few perfectly made Irish coffee (made with proper pouring cream not that horrible squirty sruff) .. to summarise our visit, I would say Lagarto has found the secret of great food and cooking, allied to very good service, well done keep it up!

I was on my own, the waitress Miriam was very lovely. The choice of music was phenomenal (old soul music, the loudness was quiet enough to still have a conversation). There are a couple of seats with a sea view. I was very happy to see that there was a variety of vegan dishes. I had the mushroom ravioli, they were good but I think a little more variety of spices inside the dish would make it even tastier. The prices are a little high (14€ for the ravioli, 7,50€ for a little vegan cheesecake) but overall my experience was very good, especially because of the very nice and friendly service.

We dined at La Garto on a Saturday evening in January. Table for 2. Although out of season the restaurant was nearly full and very popular.
We had reserved the booking online earlier that day.
We skipped starters and went straight for the main courses.
We both ordered Lamb shanks with mash potatoes, sautéed potatoes and asparagus. shared the sides.
Unfortunately my lamb shank was overcooked and very tough compared to my friends. I think I was just unlucky. Our waiter was very polite and did offer to change it for me but I half way through and was full by this point. He removed the €19.80 euros from the bill which I think was a fair approach.
The restaurant had a live pianist playing great songs for a few hours and taking requests too which we really enjoyed.
We sampled some after dinner drinks, expresso martinis, different types of gin and tonic too. All were really nice and I would highly recommend.
The food is highly priced compared to other restaurants in the area but does have a great atmosphere to go with it. It wouldn’t be somewhere you may dine each evening but worth a visit budget dependant. Our bill was €125 for two people.
Despite my main course I would revisit (and choose something else)as over all the evening was very enjoyable and the service was great.

Having visited this restaurant on our last visit to Tenerife we had high expectations of a good night. We went early and enjoyed a nice cocktail at the bar before being seated. The waitress seemed very professional at first helping us choose the local wine. The starters came and were average. I'd had scallops and asparagus in a sauce that seemed to turn into a gravy and was an odd accompaniment to the dish. The scallops were very thin and looked like one whole scallop had been sliced 3 time to create the look of having more scallops than you had. For the main course, id been saving myself all week for what I'd expected (especially by the price) to be a melt in the mouth rib eye steak. When the steak was served, it looked a little thicker than the normal rib eyes and I had asked for it to be cooked medium. I applied a pepper sauce and began to slice from one side. The waitress came and asked if all was ok and at first inspection, the steak was probably a little bloodier than medium but didn't concern me too much so we nodded our approval. The first thing I noticed was that the steak was really quite chewy and lacked the beautiful flavour expected from a rib eye. Being a slow eater, I was barely halfway through my plate when everyone else had finished, mainly due to the excess chewing. As I progressed further into the steak it was clear that it had not been cooked properly and was in fact 'BLUE' in the centre. I skirted around the centre and ate the more cooked pieces but was left at the end with about 30% of the entire steak inedible for me. By now the other guests had finished eating 10 minutes ago and I wasn't particularly bothered about sending it back to be recooked as it lacked flavour in the first place. When the waitress returned I pointed out that the steak had not been cooked correctly and she agreed and said she'd speak to the chef. On her return with the desert menus she said nothing then when she came back to get us to order I asked her what the chef had said. To my surprise she said ' You should have told us when I asked you' instead of an apology or perhaps a goodwill offering. HOW RUDE. If your chef cannot cook a simple steak (which thinking about it was quite possibly a RUMP steak being disguised as a rib eye) then he's not a very good chef is he? A simple apology would have sufficed but her and the so called chefs rudeness cost them a €25 tip which I would have gladly paid. For the price you pay here I'd expect (as we got in other local restaurants this week) much better quality of food and much better customer service.

My wife and I have eat at Lagarto several times over the last 3 years and have been satisfied with our meals and the service given. Sadly this was not our experience on Tuesday 11th February. We had booked a table and arrived at 20.00hrs. The restaurant was beginning to get busy but we were taken to our table and our order was taken soon after. The starters and mains arrived within an acceptable timeframe taking into account the level of activity within the restaurant.
The issue arose after the plates were cleared following the mains.We intended on having a dessert and coffee but no waiting staff attended our table despite them passing our table on numerous occasions and also both my wife and I trying to get there attention. After a period of 30 minutes enough was enough and my wife had to stop one waiter in order to ask for the bill. Most disappointing was that nobody bothered clearing the food debris from the table surface after the mains course and this debris still remained on the table when we left.
Would I eat at Lagarto again? Maybe but not this holiday.

Me and my girlfriend were searching for a restaurant on the island with a vegan /gluten free menu for ages. We nearly gave up because all we could find was limited menus which refined our options. This place however has an amazing menu which serves an array of dishes at a very high standard . You will not be disappointed especially if you are seeking sugar free/gluten free/vegan options.
The atmosphere was warm,romantic and sophisticated with live music played by Paul to whom you could request a song to be sung. The music was not loud and it whispered beneath any conservation me and my partner had.
We booked before hand and both received a free cocktail each, worth 10 euros. The cocktails were made directly in front of us at the bar as we were waiting for our table having arrived 1hr early. The cocktails were out of this world and the bartender was passionate and knew his stuff.
We couldn't believe this restaurant existed, having searched tirelessly for such a place. We are from London and have thousands of restaurants at our doorstep and if Lagarto Brasserie was located here it would definitely be our most favourite restaurant.
Please do not miss out on the opportunity to have you senses blown with excitement. This place is worth every single penny and will be a highlighted memory to your visit in tenerife.
We would like to say a very big thank you to Jonathan who served us (10/10) , we cant wait to come back to tenerife and visit this rare gem.

This was a great find. It was walkable from our hotel, El Mirador, along the promenade and beach though we also took a taxi one night when suffering a sore foot. There is a taxi rank nearby or they will phone for one (about 5 euros to El Mirador). My Iberico pork cheeks were delicious and the restaurant features sever al veggie options as part of their vegan section - not that many places have so many choices for veggies/vegans. The service was excellent with Stalin (yes) our key waiter proving exceptional in the way he combined friendly helpfulness with efficiency. Good wine list including Tenerife section worth sampling. Sadly our schedule meant only one visit for dinner. Affordable, and if you book online they offer a free cocktail. Don't be put off by the not-so-cute exterior appearance or location below flats/hotel. Recommended.

A nice menu with something for everyone whatever your taste. Fish, meat or vegetarian A good wine list with servers who know what’s what. An open kitchen so you can see your food being cooked. Live music which was not loud set off the setting beautifully. The service by all the staff was excellent (our server Miriam was delightful ) and knowledgeable with a smile. Book first to ensure you get a table. They will get you a taxi to take you home. For the two of us with one glass of wine was €92 plus whatever service you left

What a wonderful find thanks to trip advisor. Booked a couple of hours before our visit online to find we were offered free cocktails on arrival. They were certainly impressive with the mixologist really nailing it! A wonderful atmosphere at this really chilled brasserie with amazing staff (especially our wonderful waitress Miriam ❤️) the food is exceptional and my daughter was delighted to find the most amazing vegan menu alongside all the usual delicious offerings. I had sole which was mouth watering and she had amazing lentil cakes that actually I was rather envious of. We loved Paul the wonderful Irishman playing live songs and plenty of dedications organised via the waiting staff, a lovely touch. It was great to see the locals amongst the holiday makers and expats all having a fun Saturday night evening out! I have no doubt we will be back, this place is a great find 👍🌝

Visited this restaurant for the first time last night. Three of us booked at table for dinner. It is situated in a block of bars and a supermarket. An unexpected find set back from the sea. We were warmly welcomed and the live entertainment was already in place when we arrived at 8.15pm, a pianist and singer. He played a variety of music until 10pm and sounded great. We were shown our table and provided with menus. Sparkling water arrived promptly and orders for food taken. There was quite a wait for starters to arrive, but not a problem, as not there to be rushed. All three of us decided to have a bowl of hot soup to start and had traditional onion soup with croutons and emmental cheese. It was delicious and I could certainly eat that again. For main courses, I had half a chicken cooked with lemon and thyme. It arrived in a casserole dish steaming. The chicken fell apart and was delicious, no knife needed. The flavours of herbs made the chicken really interesting and flavoursome. My mother had the chicken and mushroom vol au vent. Her appetite is not great, but she loved the flavour of the creamy sauce and really enjoyed it. My partner tried the vegan burger and really enjoyed it. Empty plates. No room for dessert I am afraid. Definitely worth a second visit. Well looked after by our waiter, Estagu.

We came to Lagarto on our previous trip to Tenerife in 2018 and decided to return on our 1st evening
. Very much enjoyed our evening and were well looked after by our waiter, Marco.
He recommended an excellent Rioja which he decanted for us.
The onion soup starter wasn't great but Marco made amends by offering me a free dessert. The Mango Pannacotta was delightful. My ribeye steak was perfectly cooked and the Roquefort sauce was delicious. My wife enjoyed her veggie starter and mushroom ravioli main. She really liked her Mont Blanc dessert cocktail.
I'm not usually a fan of live music while I'm dining but the organist sang some lovely songs without drowning out our conversation.
Not a cheap meal but I felt it was reasonable given the quality of the offering and the level of service.

Restaurant fairly busy and service slow. Too slow for family with young children who need bed. Our two starters took 45 mins and main courses arrived 30 mins later after some prompting. Unfortunately they brought a dish to the table which was lava hot with no warning and our toddler touched it, burning himself. He was screaming so I rushed him to the bathroom to run under cool water. I explained to the waiter on the way so he would get ice. He told me to put my mask on. Great, super helpful. Basically whole service from then on was a mess. We had to take toddler home. They packed up some but not all the food. They charged us in full for dinner, no apology, they had a burns cream in the kitchen that the chefs use which we could use once but had to give back although there’s no pharmacy in town. Our toddler was screaming hysterically the whole time.
I can’t believe we paid for the experience of dining here. All we got was an injured screaming toddler and some mediocre cold food to takeaway that we never got to eat. Happy birthday me.

Our Prestige rep recommended this restaurant as she did the whole Venture chain, we were not disappointed with any of them. Bloom, 88, Thai Botanico and this one. The staff are exemplary, the food great and the ambience in all of them top notch. Yes sometimes they are very busy so the service may be a little slow, yes the food is a little cooler than we may chose to eat sometimes, I also like my food hot but hey we have to accept a few differences when we travel and chill a bit. The singer at the piano was an unexpected surprise and very good. We are fussy foodies and enjoyed what we had so we can only say from our experience we wouldn't hesitate to go back and recommend.

We hadn’t made a reservation at this restaurant so patiently waited at the bar for 30 minutes, which we didn’t mind, then we got our table.
We sat down and no one came to take our order for another 25 minutes and had to ask for someone to take the order.
Once the order was taken, we then waited another 25 minutes for the starters to arrive.
After that, we waited another 15 minutes for the main courses to arrive.
The food was very good and we have no complaints about that but the service is poor!
There’s not enough staff to deal with the customers in this popular restaurant.
So if you are prepared to wait a long time for your food then try this place.

Food is a 5 without question.
First time ever I didnt leave a tip & thats why it came down to 4 stars for me.
Service was not great ( understatement).
When you have to catch the eye of the staff on at least 3-4 occasions then it spoils the experience.
New waitress who needed help but experienced staff not assisting her, but also she seemed unsure what to in dealing with any requests
Maitre d needed to be alert to this but busy elsewhere most of the time.
First was a question on a drink, waitress unsure went to ask a colleague.
Didnt come back so when given a chance asked someone else about 10mins later.
Dessert sat there for about 35/40mins after main before we were lifting the menu to try & catch someones attention so to take the order.
Paying bill again asked for bill, sat waited, 15mins later had to ask again as people after us who asked were getting their's within a minute or 2 after there request.
I would definitely come back as food exceptional & because most other reviews say service was excellent.
I would say most of above wasn't helped by a couple sat near us who wanted constant attention.
Im hoping this was the case & not just friends of the maitre d as he stood at there table the best part of 20mins without moving & was back again to them within 5mins of moving, this to me then led to some issues above which he would have seen if he had been attentive to the floor & especially realising he had a very new inexperienced waitress working who would need guidance.
