This restaurant is not on the main walkway but at the top end and round the corner. It only opens Wednesday to Sunday and booking is essential. Either book as soon as you arrive or find the number and ring before you go! We could...only get in for one night of our week’s stay but we are so glad we did. There is a menu on the table top but you are taken out the back to see the fish counter. You can choose shellfish in different size portions which we did. We had half portions of sardines, squid, prawns and potatoes with red and green sauce. Then you can choose a fish which you pay for by weight. We selected a medium size Bream again to share. We asked for a bottle of wine which the waiter thought would be a good accompaniment and he was correct. We had dessert here, again asking for their recommendations which were spot on once more. The total bill was a lot less than we had budgeted for and we were very sorry not to be able to go there again.More
We absolutely loved this restaurant. The staff are wonderful. Definitely the best place that we have found so far. Value for money it would take some beating. We ordered a selection of fried and grilled squid. Canarian potatoes (tastiest yet) and Langoustines cooked just perfectly....We were very full but could not miss sampling the traditional Canarian deserts and what a choice! Needless to say we have booked again to return this week.More
We were recommended to this place by a local and it didn’t disappoint. You must book ( little English spoken!) minimal menu but they like you to look at the oh so fresh selection in the chiller and it appears beautifully seasoned and cooked a...few minutes later! It’s a no frills place - probably not changed in twenty years but absolutely loved it.More
Lovely restaurant where you definitely need to book, they were turning people away on our visit. The waiter who literally ran everywhere was so friendly and really looked after us. The fish was fresh the wine was amazingly good value and the view not too...shabby either. At this price point you probably won’t get better. We are looking forward too our return visit in SeptemberMore
My wife and I had dinner here. My sure that you make reservations. The restaurant is small and has ocean view. There is nothing fancy about this restaurant, plastic tables, chairs, etc. Interior needs a fresh coat of paint, etc. However, the seafood is excellent....The waiter allows you to pick you fish and they cook it. We ordered a tasty fish that was sliced down the middle and grilled. It was delicious. Make sure that you ask for the green sauce that adds another dimension to the taste of your fish. Overall a good experience. Mostly locals eat here.More
It is advisable to book , it gets really full and it is just logical considering the quality of the food and service. It was just awesome having dinner perched over the sea... just great! And super cheap at less than 40€ for two people...and with plenty of food!More
The host was really kind. The position is great, with ocean view and the food was excellent. Fresh fish, perfectly cooked. Fast service, right price. All was perfect!
We had noticed people queuing outside this cool looking ship shaped restaurant before so we were delighted to wander back one evening 10 minutes before 8 pm evening opening and joined the short line. We chose seats on the terrace on plastic chairs and tables...with strip lighting and the sounds and smell of the sea all oround. After a while our waitress took our drink order, red or white wine or beer and then took us inside to choose our fish. It was like a fishmongers counter where we were shown the days catch and names and there was also shell fish, squid and prawn for starter. We chose an unfamiliar fish and asked for grilled instead or fried with salad and canarian potatoes. We were served the salad with bread and excellent red and green mojo sauce and when our fish arrived it was delicious, fresh and simply grilled with fresh lemon. The white local Verdejo wine was very good for us Sauvignon Blanc drinkers. There were large tables of locals and Germans around us and a very pleasant athmosphere. We felt like we had a very tasty and authentic meal at a very fair price. The staff were friendly and efficient and I would recommend Amigo Camilo without hesitation.More
The food here is amazing. You have to get here early and queue up for a table. There are no reservations. Full of locals - always a good sign.
Food top! A bottle of wine 10e! Service bad. This feeling that Spanish guys get everything fast when non Spanish have to wait long time for everything. No card.
Great reviews and photographs made us decide to go here for dinner. We qued before restaurant opened. Resteraunt doesn't take reservations. Very unusual arrangement with regard to ordering food, we watched other tables and guessed the situation. Staff friendly and situation, location unique. When we...went to order / view fish on offer, very disappointed. Very poor selection on offer. House Red wine was good. This evening the food was poor, all fish was deep fried and tough. No fish was grilled. No fresh leaf of salad to lighten the meal. A basic humble establishment with great staff and location. Food let them down this evening. From the photos posted, we expect you have more choices at lunch time, dinner is simply what's left after lunch service!!!!More
I looked forward to visiting this restaurant after all the reviews on here & after walking past one evening & speaking to the staff about booking for the following evening. They said they didnt take bookings but come between 8-9pm the next evening (Saturday) &...we should be able to get a table. After reading reviews on here we went 15 minutes early & joined a small queue outside a dark restaurant with no tables & chairs in the terrace. Another 20-30 people joined after us before 8pm. By 8.15, the restaurant was still in darkness & people started to leave the queue. A local couple walked past us all & spoke to a Spanish guy in the queue & told him they had met one of the waiters up the road & he had told them the restaurant was closed that night as they had run out of fish! A simple sign on the door of the restaurant would have been enough to inform potential customers what the situation was, not make all those people queue unnecessarily. I was disappointed not to have tried it, but disappointed more by a lack of consideration for their customers. So beware, if its still in darkness by opening time, its probably not going to open.More
This place is a must if visiting Las Palmas. We got there a little before it opened and there was already a que of people waiting. Be sure to get there early as half hour later there wasn't a lot available on the menu. This...place is a cafe/seafood place with great views. If your looking for fine dining this isn't the place. The food was tasty and big portions at such cheap prices. The service was ok would of been difficult if you don't speak Spanish but for value of money, food and location top marks.More
I stayed 6 weeks in Gran Canaria and I tried many restaurants: Amigo Camilo is simply the best place you can choose for seafood. The wine is also great and the side dishes like potatoes (papas) with their special sauce (mojo). It is right near...the ocean, nice view, the sounds of the water ... and especially the staff, the service is just excellent ! The picture posted is just one meal I had :p. I tried all their dishes and all great ! Gracias !More
