It stands to reason that Café Balear, being tucked in so cozily inside Ciutadella´s main port beside a seemingly endless chain of fishing boats tightly lining both sides of the quintessentially picturesque harbor, should have the freshest haul from the sea available on the island of Menorca. That I expected, and our dinner happily confirmed my suspicions. What went beyond... More

In all Menorca guides highly recommended fish restaurant. We went for lunch and we're not disappointed but also not thrilled. Location is great, sitting outside at the waterfront. Starters, gamba's (€22) and tomato with tuna salad (12,50) absolutely ok and the John Dory dish well prepared but we kept the feeling that is was a bit lazy...we missed the passion.

Friendly and efficient service . We tried the menu del dia which offered a sample of four starters which were excellent (especially the fish croquettes) , the caldereta was not the best I have had but still offered good value at 45 euros for the three courses .

One Of my favorite place in Menorca. Excellent seafood and service. A charming terrasse in the Port. From my point Of view the new interiors a bit pretentious. I always would choose the terrasse place.

Terrible service from our head waiter. A family group of 8 with 4 children. One of the children's dinners was brought out half hour after the others. Three steaks ordered, all cooked incorrectly. Complained to our waiter who refused to accept this until another waiter stepped in. Then brought back out and two were still cooked incorrectly......so we gave up... More

I was looking forward to my meal here with my husband as I'd visited with friends last year. We booked a table inside and were dismissed by the lady inside! My husband explained we'd pre booked a table and we were shown to a table by the window inside and felt rushed from the moment we sat down. We had... More

Honestly, I don't know why there is a line up for this place. We went on a recommendation and were very disappointed and felt severely ripped off - the only place in all of Spain we felt taken advantage of. We ordered the $62 Euro lobster rice stew based on the recommendation and while the stew was good in flavour,... More

We had exzellent seafood, the restaurant is located at the harbor, very friendly service - we got a beautiful extra table for two at the quay; we had an excellent carpacio de Atun and a perfect Rape. You better reserve a table in advance.

We used to go to this restaurant as we particularly enjoyed its delicious lobster dishes. This year however, the grilled lobster (a la plancha) turned out to be fried with cheap oil more than grilled. While we complained about this at the end of the dinner, the waiters did not really seem to care and told us it would be... More

Description
It was opened in the 70s, as a tavern in the harbour that welcomed seafarers in the early hours of the morning before they went to work. Over 40 years, the family business gains the confidence of its customers and became the meeting place for many, where they could enjoy all kinds of tapas and freshly caught seafood. At the present time Cafè Balear is a highly-regarded Menorcan restaurant and a must visit in the Port of Ciutadella. Here you will find a lively welcoming atmosphere, where you can enjoy dishes based on fish and seafood, freshly caught by our own boat, the Rosa Santa Primera.
