All reviews duck tasting menu amuse bouche clams seafood michelin star welcome cocktail tomato ice cream panoramic view pre dessert table by the window a la carte paired wines perfect evening fabulous meal food and wine bottle of wine
The food was good, but clearly most Michelin star restaurants have pretty good food, but the view was the most memorable part of the visit. The location of the restaurant on the hills above Gros/San Sebastian is spectacular.
The only good part of this place is the view, but the food is definitely nothing even good not to mention special which is what anyone would expect from a Michelin star restaurant.
First of all, when we reserved the table no one mentioned it...will be placed inside. In my opinion, the interior of this restaurant is terrible - a cold unsophisticated place which looks like a weddings hall, with very uninspired decoration, quite old style but nothing classy, stylish or fancy.
Then, the waiters don’t really speak English, it was hard for them to explain what we have in the plates and what to expect from our food experience. Not to mention I’m pregnant and they completely ignored this aspect by offering me, as on the house, an alcoholic cocktail as a starter and then as a dessert another alcoholic one which obviously I had to refuse both times, but they didn’t consider to satisfy me with anything else in exchange haha not funny at all.
Besides this, I’m also doing my best to stick to a vegetarian lifestyle but their vegetarian menu was inexistent/ unavailable for Saturday night and they were also running out of plenty of dishes from the a la carte menu.
In the end I decided to go for a brisket meat (safe in my opinion) which was anything but not slow cooked like. Horrible taste and texture, chewy and very fatty and their option as side dish/taste was mustard and bread.. really nothing can taste cheaper than this combo.
I didn’t dare to order more since the easy one was such a failure. Luckily I was inspired to have only this since it was such a disappointing.
My husband chose some fish based dishes, a King prown salad as starter and a Kokotxa fish as main which I couldn’t even taste because of the very jelly raw looking and fishy smell it had. Terrible with all my honesty.
Besides this, the lightning in the restaurant is a white cold one which makes you feel like in a canteen, had no music and zero ambiance or romance.
The waiters were pouring water from 2 different bottles (which btw we didn’t order more than one) so why would they open two and of course put it on the bill as well?!
Honestly I have no idea why does this place has a Michelin star!!! Definitely not recommending it.More
It was truly a magical experience from beginning to end at Mirador Ulia. This is not my usual type of dining experience, but I was blown away by the menu, the exceptional service, and attention to detail. We ordered two Classic Menu’s, and the chef...even altered two of the dishes as I’m not a big fan of seafood. Instead of just taking the seafood out of the dish and calling it a day, he prepared something special! My favorite dish was the bone marrow one, which was well balanced and tasty. All of the staff we encountered were accommodating, and the sumiller was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. To top it off, the view is incredible as you can see all of San Sebastián, from the beach to the mountain tops. I can’t wait to visit again!More
We made a last-minute lunch reservation and were lucky to get one of the top tables with the best view ever. The food, however, was as memorable as the view.
We had the tasting menu and enjoyed every course. All dishes are creative, delicious and...some are very technical/complex to make. Add the good service and you understand why the Michelin inspectors like them too.
A couple of small points they could improve. No amuse bouche and straight to the first dish was unexpected for a 120€ tasting menu. The order of the dishes was a bit strange, with their duck as one of the first dishes. I would advise against taking the paired wines at 96€ pp, with some exceptions the wines are not worth it and not always paired well, better to take a few bottles good white/red and pair them yourself.More
I don’t recommend this place for your important event. I booked a table one week before our anniversary. In the day of reservation I sent email with a question if we can come 1h later and got the answer “yes, no problem”. Surprisingly when we...have arrived in our time we have been told that we are late, they were wait us 1h earlier and the table is gone. We have been offered a table in the small room at the back, where nobody sat, there were 3 free empty tables, no windows. Waiter understood he is offering us something really bad and even asked if we want to see it before we decide to stay or not. We were very disappointed with place of course. When you book in advance you expect a good table, not the corner for a “last chance”. We asked if we can wait until any table is free, waiter replied us we can call him in 20 minutes and ask if there is free table, we walked around and called him in 20 minutes, 3 times, no answer. As it was already late we couldn’t find any other restaurant and were left without dinner at our special day. Next day I sent email telling all this, and just got the answer that there was a table for us and waiter even offered a table in the terrace, what was the lies of course. No excuses, no offer to book again and give some good discount for this awful situation, nothing. Next day we went to the another restaurant which we also booked a week ago and got the best table and great service, #1 on tripadviser.More
Unfortunately I did not enjoy as much as I would liked. I did the reservation with time to spend the dinner with my wife for her birthday (she always wanted to go there!). In the message attached in the reservation request I asked for table...in the front and if possible a small detail during the desert (birthday night). A few hours later I received the confirmation of my reservation but unfortunately I did not call them again and confirm my request about the table. Well, the day came and to my disappointment the only table in the second row was ours...and no details during the desert.
We tried the Degustation menu and we must say that it was delicious! But if have to repeat I would choose the Degustation menu from the Hotel Mercure (we tried the day before and everything was 10/10).More
Had the tasting menu and was told the restaurant was very good. Lot of small dishes, some better than others but overall it was just okay for us. Great view from the restaurant of San Sebastián though. Very attentive staff.

This question should be directed to the restaurant manager but I imagine that if they do accommodate your wedding, it’ll be beautiful just with this setting alone. The restaurant is large, spacious enough to accommodate a small wedding. You’ll be a happy bride.
I think you definitely need to try the website again or the telephone number, putting a question on TripAdvisor isn't going to reserve a table. But do try and book because it really is worth it, the place is amazing!
