Oh this place is spectacular. Nestled in a quiet part of the old town, tables get full BEFORE the opening time. So make sure to come early. Our strategy: try all the small plates. We ordered 5 and everything was exceptional. The outstanding of all the delights was the morcilla. Grilled to perfection, the morcilla becomes creamy and spreadable. The flavor contrasts with the sauces. Absolutely nothing like it.
This places makes me think that the chef is a rebel: offering Michelin-quality tapas for an accessible price. One of the must try's in Donostia for sure.

Put this place top of your list for pinxtos. Where to even begin - the food was unreal. Everything was delicious, especially the veal cheeks, the octopus and the risotto in particular. Joined a queue just before opening time but reckon if you turn up about 30 minutes later you'll slip in where some people head off after one dish. Very busy but embrace the friendly if a little chaotic vibe.
We tried the whole menu and came back again later on in our trip to have a second go of our favourites.

We went here based on the high marks this pinxto bar gets from reviews, lists, etc, and they're all correct. This was delicious.
We arrived around 8:30 on a Thursday and though the restaurant was certainly busy, we found counter space within a minute or two. There is a separate queue for the tables outside, and at that time of night all the tables were full with maybe 2-3 parties waiting.
We ate our whole dinner here because we don't like moving around. As such, we tried almost everything on the menu.
We enjoyed everything we ordered but would order again in a heartbeat: octopus, blood sausage, beet "soup", suckling pig, goat cheese with peppers.
I enjoyed the veal cheeks but would probably get a smaller portion next time. The squid ink risotto is actually orzo.
The servers are fun and friendly, with a good amount of english. There is also an english translation on the menu.

Overcrowded place which honestly doesn’t deserve it. We waited for a table outside in a line while no waiter took the time to explain how it worked while they passed at least 45 times next to all of us (also our fault, we should have asked instead of getting in the line). Some people were so fed up that they started to seat on the ground outside the restaurant to eat on the floor. When we finally got seated (like cowboys waiting for a table to get free), we had to go to the bar to ask if someone was going to take our order like we had seen them do with previous tables and the waiter told us “after a certain time we don’t serve at tables anymore”, okaaaaaaaaaay point taken, we ordered at the counter. We went to previous pintxos places before and the ones we got served here were greasy, ultra salty and overcooked. Finally, hygiene wise it lacked discipline, we literally had to go get the cleaning product to clean the table ourselves which given the situation is not acceptable. When we entered the bar, it was so overcrowded social distancing was impossible. Maybe it was an exceptionally crowded night but given our above experience we won’t come back.

Best food we ate in San Sebastián. No reservations and when we went there was a full queue 10 mins before the 7pm opening on a Sunday eve so best to get there early.
The service is standing room only around the bar and counter in traditional style. The pintxos were amazing and each one was delicious. Service is really quick and they call your name when each dish that you’ve ordered is ready. We bumped into people who were coming back for the second service in one day as they enjoyed it so much and after we’d eaten, we could understand why. We would have gone back the next day too, but it wasn’t open on a Monday.

As the reviews mentioned no reservation so we waited half an hour before the opened for lunch to get a table. Totally worth it. Probably the best meal in the whole San Sebastián. Order the razor clams, cochinillo, pig ears (super crispy) and the beef cheeks. The morcilla “blood sausage” was the best I have ever tried, but still a bit much for me. You have to try and have there food as it fills in fast. Service is sort of pay over the counter and the wait, not traditional, but food is so spectacular you won’t care.

Very good food, seriously great quality. A pity the very poor service and customer attention. We sit and ordered some raciones, telling them that we might have ordered something else later: well, when we asked to order more, they just say that the kitchen was closed, they didn't even apologize for not having tell us before.

To have lunch in this place you have to arm yourself with a lot of patience: a huge queue at the entrance and very little chance of finding a comfortable seat that isn't in the arms of someone nearby at the counter. The suckling pig with crispy rind, the risoni with cuttlefish ink and the turkey ears are highly recommended. Rather high prices (7/15 € each) for such an informal drink.

The restaurant is tucked away in the Old Town slightly off the beaten track but it’s definitely worth seeking out.
It was recommended to us a couple of times (once by a local) and we could see why - we tried the beef cheek and goats cheese (both were excellent and probably the best dishes we had throughout our three days) and the risotto (was also very good). You can order all the dishes in three sizes - the medium is sufficient for two people to share.
We washed the pintxo down with a glass of the local wine and a glass of crianza.
We loved the restaurant and would be very happy to recommend it to anyone (and did to several whilst we weee there).

Bad experience. The food was good but the service and prices left a lot to be desired. The waiter brought us the bill as soon as we finished eating without us asking and told us that we had 5 minutes to finish our beer because he had to kick us out. Small portions for excessive prices, you can eat the same for half the price anywhere in the area.

This place was so good we went three times. All items on the menu were fresh, delicious, and came out very quickly. Also had cheap beer and outdoor seating on hot nights. The fois gras was insanely good.

This is a tiny place with about 5-6 tables outside and standing bar inside. All dishes come in 3 sizes (small, medium, large). We tried EVERY dish in the menu and most were amazing! Highlights were hake, razor clams, pigs ear, veal cheeks, octopus, suckling pig-all delicious! Sadly no desserts. With soft drinks and small beers, it cost less than 25 euro per head-UNBELIEVABLE VALUE for the quality

Outstanding food.
The place looks like an old English pub. But do not be phased by this. The food is excellent. Although slightly higher in price than some of the surrounding bars the the quality shines through.
We had Octopus, goats cheese, razor calms and the beef cheek on our two visits.
White wine and beer is great too.

I had extremely bad experience in this restaurant! I waited 25 minutes in the queue for a table with my 2-year-old kid and the moment a table opened up, the waitress told me I’m not eligible for the table as she saw my husband buying pintxos inside the restaurant already. Even though we wanted to eat full portions outside with my family, the waitress didnt’t let us sit down and sent us away. I am very disappointed, especially that they did this with a kid…

We tried two dishes at La Cuchara: the hake, which was crisy on the outside, and juicy and tender inside, and the suckling pig - which was also excellent.
Had this been our only bar in San Sebastian, I would easily rate it as 5 stars. However, we also visited Mendaur Berria, which was a notch ir two higher, so we must differentiate.
If you're there and they have a vacant table - take it, but know that there are even better choices.
