I thought San Sebastián cheesecake was some kind of special cheese cake only made in San Sebastián. I was wrong its only made at La Vina . Fluffy, burned top cheese cake is something out of this world . I had two portions and one to take away ... Everywhere these cake is called as San Sebastián cheese cake I think it should be called La Vina cake to give credit to the restaurant .

As simple as it is, this is the best cheesecake ever. Makes the stuff they call cheesecake in North America seem like a dollar store pastry.
And the other pintxos are great quality too.
Always packed, but the chaos is well organized and the staff somehow remain calm and friendly, except for the occasional line jumper.
Well done!
We went last September, but during this time of "social isolation" we found the La Vina cheesecake recipe and managed to make an acceptable version. Looking forward to trying the real version again some day!!!

Literally the best cheesecake I’ve ever eaten. And I love cheesecake and have eaten a lot in my lifetime! 😉 Also the pinchos were fabulous. My only complaint would be, we ordered one serving of two different kinds of pinchos- but our bill was a lot higher than expected. When we questioned, they said they gave us larger portions therefore more money. I felt slightly taken advantage of as a tourist. With that said, would definitely go back; I’d just be more specific next time!

After having a walk around town I decided to go to La Vina having read the great reviews and wanted to try the famous cheesecake. As it was around 7.30pm the queue behind me was getting bigger. I have decided to go for some food and the cheesecake. When I took my plates to the back of the restaurant the server demonstratively told me off in front of the other 10 people,that the area was a restaurant and I should be seating in the front cafe area. Ok, I would’ve sat in the restaurant and be served by someone instead of queuing, barely mind I spend €23.
The restaurant was empty and the tables weren’t set so I presumed is just free to sit.
A spanish speaking customer has told the waiter he is being rude and should’ve let me just sit there.
The server’s excuse was that I was alone, which doesn’t make sense as I sat at a table for 6 people instead,at the front. I have watched him serve other customers, he was polite and friendly and I guess because they were communicating in Spanish.
I realised his bad attitude towards me was because I am a foreign and a woman alone. Literally if there was a man next to me he would’ve not speak to me in such manner.
I am stunned and taken aback from this kind of behaviour.
And to top it all of I have asked the other waiter if I can take the rest of my cheesecake as take way, where he had gone behind the counter and made jokes and snarky comments, like ‘is she expecting us to do it for her’. I might not speak great Spanish but I do understand most of it you peasants.
Cheesecake was good but €6 for 2 thin slices combined with the waiters bad attitude can put you off any famous yummy local delicatessen.
Ouch!!!!

The most uncivilized service i’ve experienced until now. Taking into consideration that i always make sure to treat people nicely no matter what, i get what i give Not this time though, the person behind the bar (owner i assume by his attitude) was extremely arrogant, making remarks about questions i asked about food to other customers right there while i was ordering. Behaving like a typical bully. Highly recommend NOT.

Cheese cake and service were great. But when you ask for a vino tinto they poured the most expensive type… €11 for two drinks and one cheese cake sums up San Sebastián. Go to Logrono! Plus they cannot cut jamon here

Visited with my family recently to try the cheesecake. We found our waiter quite abrupt, we tried a few dishes, all mediocre-the cheesecake was the best thing on offer. After a couple of days I returned to get some cheesecake takeout for my family. I arrived just as La Vina was opening. The chef/owner told me to wait outside - he then ignored me while he sloped his dirty bucket water out and rearranged his outside seating, he clearly wasn’t interested in my custom so I walked away. When I returned from my holiday I looked up the cheesecake recipe online, it turns out it ‘s actually very easy to make! If you do it yourself the cheesecake isn’t soured by La Vina’s sour staff.

We visited specifically for the cheesecake as our dessert and we weren’t disappointed.
The bar was very busy (and that’s in March) and it was standing room outside only once you had been served (if you want to avoid the crowds then lunchtimes seem to be much quieter) but it was worth it as the cheesecake was lovely and we enjoyed it with a couple of glasses of red.
If you order one portion of the cheesecake then you actually get two slices and this was plenty - it was 5.50 euros for the cheesecake and two euros fir each glass of wine.
We may well return before we leave !!

Was told to venture here for the Basque Cheesecake. We ordered a piece which is cut into two and it was amazing. I make a pretty good lemon cheesecake but the was great. Beautiful flavour but also very light. You can order and take a cake away but nearly everyone who came in had a piece of cake. This is the place to try it.

Best chese cake in the town. We wanted to try the “original” cheese cake in San Sabastian and for making this La Vine is absolitely right place highly recomended. Cake is not so sweet and delicious .

A local told us we had to try the famous cheesecake at La Viña, and there were plenty of other people who had gotten the same advice. It didn’t disappoint. Consumed with a great white wine, the creamy cheesecake is served at room temperature and is far less sweet than its American cousin, which is laden with sugar and served cold. It was a different taste then expected on first bite, but it was outstanding. The portions are generous (we split one portion, which was cut into two pieces), but some patrons happily dived into the double slices. It’s worth the stop just for the cheesecake on your pintxo pursuit.

Even though I still don't understand why San Sebastian Cheesecake (Tarta de queso) has become more popular in our country than original city San Sebastian. Anyway we had the opportunity to try it in San Sebastian. La Viña is where the story begins. This little cafe / bar in Donostia area of San Sebastian, is starting point of the dessert love of millions in Turkey. Let's talk about the legendary dessert: quite different from what we eat in Turkey and incomparably delicious. The quality of the cheese and oil are the basis of the difference. Well cooked, not too unburned and an incredibly light dessert. La Viña deserves praise for Tarta de Queso. €5 / per service.

We love San Sebastián and love the friendly people—except for this establishment. We have never experienced such rude behavior as patrons of a restaurant. We stood at the bar waiting to place an order and was blatantly ignored. We waited patiently and they deliberately avoided eye contact. We stood there for 15-20mins. After serving many people that came after us and even with the whole bar turned over with new customers, we were still not served. It was clear that he was doing it on purpose. Another couple felt bad for us and tried to get his attention. Only to be shut down telling them and us to wait our turn. Clearly, he had seen us and clearly he did not want to serve us. As we left, we told him we see what you’re doing and that’s not okay. He just laughed, trying to play innocent. We were the one of the few foreigners and only Asians in the establishment.
After reading other reviews, looks like they are discriminatory against non Spanish/foreigners. Lavinia—you are rude and need to to respect people! Obvious that manners and respect was not part of your upbringing. Shame on you and your restaurant!

Very strange set up, we booked a table but could also order tapas from the bar with an additional charge for the pleasure. Food was OK, but very expensive at 23E for around 15 clams…Plus charges for bread. Cheesecake was OK - but all in all, I won’t be back.

We visited this bar/restaurant earlier in the week to sample the cheesecake which was excellent. However this restaurant is more than bring just about the cheesecake. We booked a table in the restaurant for an evening meal on a separate day and enjoyed fresh delicious food, but above all, were thoroughly impressed by the service we received from Miquel. The restaurant area only caters for a small number of covers and was very busy, but nothing was too much trouble for Miquel; he totally understands excellent customer service and could not have been more friendly or smiley despite being extremely busy attending to all of the guests on his own. I totally recommend this restaurant, please visit Miquel and his team; I am sure you will not be disappointed.
