Finding Etxanobe is not quite straightforward as it is nestled into a convention centre (or suchlike) but it is well worth the effort. The service is impeccable, always around when you need it and yet not intrusive. The food, needless to say, is a veritable Basque treat. We had the tasting menu and loved every single course. By the way,... More

Food great quality. Never ate such nice and tasty ribs before... give it a try. Maybe price is a bit higher but quality justifies the expense.

If you want to have an unforgettable basque gourmet cusine, this is your place. Managed by a well known chef, Mr. Canales has been able to renew the traditional basque dishes in a new, creative and delicious way.

Ridiculous starter "Tribute to the calimocho". Worst txakoli (Basque white wine) ever tried in my life. Unbelievable: a Basque restaurant without Gâteau Basque). The maître thinks we all clients are idiots. Crazy expensive for the quality. This is about marketing. Nice space, great building and views and very BAD culinary experience.

I love the entire space, the painting creates a nice atmosphere, there is a good light and the service is great. Etxanobe was adorable, coming to my table frequently, checking almost everything during the meal. I love the wine he suggested me and the experience of trying the tasting menu there it was definitely my TOP 5 in more than... More

We choose the Menu of the Chef (96€). It includes some signature dishes like the appetizer Sardine Lipstick, the Sardine Lasagna & the Orange Cream with Nitrogen Liquid. We also loved the caramelized pigeon, the white truffle soup, the grilled scallop, ... We choose the wine pairing formula (30€ per person, 5 distinct wines). Service was perfect. Although the English... More

Fantastic experience, enjoyed an amazing tasting menu accompanied by mostly local wines (in the package we ordered). Nicely playful displays of very advanced compositions. The service is outstanding, the food well explained by the waiters and the chef/owner. The anchovis lasagna is to die for, a must taste! Would go back any time.

Lovely location overlooking the river. The food was fantastic, the appetiser Sardine Lipstick was genius and delicious. We had the taster menu and each course was outstanding. The Chef came to the table to prepare the Orange Cream with Nitrogen Liquid, it was literally an explosion of taste in the mouth. We asked the waiter to recommend wines to accompany... More

After visiting in Feb 2015, we returned to see how things had changed in a year and a half. Our experience last time was outstanding. Our experience this time was better. We again ordered one of the set dinners (the Chef's Menu), which came with wine pairings for the various courses. Extremely good. The chef is talented and creative, so... More

Etxanobe restaurant is amazingly sited above Bilbaos second iconic building, the gleaming Palacio Euskalduna. Etxanobe is one of the hottest dining spots in the world right now, drawing breathless reviews from food-writers and food-lovers for the grand cuisine of chef/owner Fernando Canales. The post-modern dcor of the two dining rooms one of them available for private hire features a fabulous ruched fabric ceiling, wittily skirted lighting, white linens and seating, and unforgettable views over the estuary and the Guggenheim from the terrace. Light pours in everywhere. Innovation is on display in every mouthful that emerges from Canales kitchen. Theres no menu of the day; you choose a la carte or a series of tasters. Dishes change monthly and may include deceptively simple descriptions like starter of lasagne of anchovies, main course of sole with pil-pil sauce and trout eggs, and home made dessert of cinnamon and rice puff-pastry with milk, though youd be mad to miss the little chocolate bombs. The wines are excellent and the service is a mission unto itself in a word, sublime.
