We arrived at 8:15 pm, just when the restaurant opens and we got to choose a terasse table. Despite being alone for a while, we simply loved the experience. We went for the menu gastronomico and we chose 5 dishes, all fantastic. We really loved them all. Risotto with octopus, Entrecot, Chipirrones were simply to die for. The starters were... More

The food was absolutely delicious. Really an unique gastronomic experience. However we were not satisfied with the service. The waiter was quite clumsy and let the wine drop on the table every time he was serving. His suit was dirty (dry dirt, like from days before) and he had the buttons misaligned from the respective button slots.

This restaurant is unique and exclusive . The food is combination of traditional and modern cuisine . We were welcomed by the chef himself who indulged us with special appetizers and chocolate . The service is great. We were 4 people and the price was 200€.it was totally worth it but don't come there if you're not prepared to spend... More

We had an early family dinner at this lovely restaurant last month. The location is somewhat unusual (top floor of a cultural complex at the border of town), but as soon as we entered the atmosphere was lovely - a warm welcome, lovely table setting, the chef coming to say hello etc. The food was delicious - although possibly not... On the basis of other trip advisor reviews we decided to eat at Etxanobe and selected the chefs menu. Our concern was that a ten course menu would turn in to an ordeal of sitting around for three hours was soon dispelled, the service is fantastic and the dishes arrive rapidly, may be too quick for some, but perfect for... This was my first visit to a Michelin star restaurant and it was superb! The chef popped out to great us on arrival - he was sweet, chatty, proud to run us through his menu and friendly - as were the staff throughout the meal. Our waitress in particular was just lovely. The food gorgeous. We were served 3 amuse-bouches,... More

Whenever we go away we like to find one Michelin starred restaurant, and have a good slap-up meal. So my husband and I went to Etxanobe while in Bilbao for our pre-baby holiday. This place is really relaxed compared to similar restaurants, the menu is also better value (by which I mean more affordable). By dint of being more relaxed,... More

Great "chef's menu" with nice wine pairing! It's well worth it. But at the end of the meal when it's supposed to be the grand finally, our terrasse table got surrounded by newly dressed table for smokers, coming outside to end their meal with heavy cigarette consumption... We understand that Europeans are still big smokers, but in 2016 a fine... More

Description
Etxanobe restaurant is amazingly sited above Bilbaos second iconic building, the gleaming Palacio Euskalduna. Etxanobe is one of the hottest dining spots in the world right now, drawing breathless reviews from food-writers and food-lovers for the grand cuisine of chef/owner Fernando Canales. The post-modern dcor of the two dining rooms one of them available for private hire features a fabulous ruched fabric ceiling, wittily skirted lighting, white linens and seating, and unforgettable views over the estuary and the Guggenheim from the terrace. Light pours in everywhere. Innovation is on display in every mouthful that emerges from Canales kitchen. Theres no menu of the day; you choose a la carte or a series of tasters. Dishes change monthly and may include deceptively simple descriptions like starter of lasagne of anchovies, main course of sole with pil-pil sauce and trout eggs, and home made dessert of cinnamon and rice puff-pastry with milk, though youd be mad to miss the little chocolate bombs. The wines are excellent and the service is a mission unto itself in a word, sublime.
