We had been here around Easter 2014, and revisited just now. Outstanding cuisine, with the freshest ingredients, wonderful preparation and nice presentation. Great service, with the chef checking with all diners if all is well. Highly recommended !

If there was an option to rate this below terrible, I would have! The staff were extremely rude. I am at a lost how it has gained a Michelin star. The food was average but boy, they should retrain all the staff waitering. Food was literally 'plonked' onto our tables with no explanation. No smiles! The chief waiter for some... More

The atmosphere; empty table without a single decoration or flower and room too bright. The service; profunctary at best especially when my dining companion did not want wine. Not top quality service The food; the amuse bouches were interesting. My sardine lasagna appetizer was good and my hake cheeks with onions very good. But and a big but my friend... More

Superb food, one of the best meals we have had anywhere (better than many top places we have tried in our hometown, London). Very attentive staff.

Exceptional food and great value for money. Without doubt the cheapest Michelin starred meal I've ever had by miles. The tasting menu allowed us to pick any5 dishes from any part of the menu AND a dessert for 78 Euros. Absolutely incredible value for food of this class. The view from the Terrace was stunning too. Can't really think of... More

Indeed star quality. Highlights of the chef menu were the salmon dish, the ajo blanco with white truffle, and an truly amazing best-i-ever-had pigeon dish. 12 course menu for 88 eur. I also had an excellent 50 eur priorat. (Wine list was awesome with lots of choice below 60 eur - french and belgian restaurant should take an example from... More

After visiting 'El Goog' from 11:30 (TIP: buy your tickets online, it will save you more than an hour of queueing up) until 13:30 we looked forward to an exquisite lunch that we had reserved in advance. A necessity, it turned out to be fully booked. A 10 minute walk took us to an uninspiring, large steel and concrete building.... More

Arrived early and sat on the terrace. Beautiful weather (especially coming from summer in Texas) and view. Chef greeted us and explained the menu. He was passionate about the tasting menu, so we went that way. Really nice dishes. Some were good and some were really good. Overall great experience. Chef also recommended the 2011 Pontac Rioja, which was very... More

Perfect restaurant in the heart of Bilbao! Friendly attentive staff that would go the extra mile! Unbelievable value for exceptional food! And the chef takes time to greet and speak to the guests!

Etxanobe restaurant is amazingly sited above Bilbaos second iconic building, the gleaming Palacio Euskalduna. Etxanobe is one of the hottest dining spots in the world right now, drawing breathless reviews from food-writers and food-lovers for the grand cuisine of chef/owner Fernando Canales. The post-modern dcor of the two dining rooms one of them available for private hire features a fabulous ruched fabric ceiling, wittily skirted lighting, white linens and seating, and unforgettable views over the estuary and the Guggenheim from the terrace. Light pours in everywhere. Innovation is on display in every mouthful that emerges from Canales kitchen. Theres no menu of the day; you choose a la carte or a series of tasters. Dishes change monthly and may include deceptively simple descriptions like starter of lasagne of anchovies, main course of sole with pil-pil sauce and trout eggs, and home made dessert of cinnamon and rice puff-pastry with milk, though youd be mad to miss the little chocolate bombs. The wines are excellent and the service is a mission unto itself in a word, sublime.
